:nono: Penn St and Ohio St they had chance in both games to win it in the 4th quarter....

I am done with the excuses," Oh the talent isn't there yet" , " Their young" , " The kicker missed",
Bullshit! It falls squarely on the coaching staff having this team in the right mind and body!
These are kids they recruited now, there is no more excuses. Its time to put out or shut up about being a top power 5 school!

What they built this program back up to only dominate the Cougs?
Hell if we wanted to see that we could watch the NBA

Pedo State and Ohio State won because they had superior talent. We came back because they started playing soft.

What bothers me more is when we have superior talent and great coaching and lose games we shouldn't. Seems to happen once or twice a year.

For what it's worth, the kids defense haven't played much. On offense I think the issue is the play-calling. I just find it strange that they're willing to put freshmen in the secondary yet allow seniors to keep playing WR when they can't get open or catch passes.

It's frustrating, trust me I know.

As much as I hate to say this, after losing 9 defensive starters I think this is a rebuilding year. We all have high expectations, but even Don James had down years.

That's a great opinion, and we all have our opinions on this program right now, but to me 9 starters leaving shouldn't be an excuse. Again "next man up" has been a battle cry since the game was invented. In today's game there should be no excuse, Don James era was almost 30 years ago, different time, different kind of players, this era is taken kids that are ready to play freshmen year, not redshirt or not get on the field....

This coaching staff is to me is not getting the job done, to continually keep getting beat by lesser teams isn't acceptable.
Petersen took the job he said he was going to put this program back in the national spot light, I don't think he meant by being in the spotlight for loses to Cal or the Arizona schools is what he meant.

I'm going to add on here,

Look this program isn't WSU ( not to make fun of the Cougs) but this program has the capabilities of being one of the elite programs on the West Coast, Hell Ugene can draw the play makers so why can't this program?

You have a staff that says, "well he's an OKG " I'm starting to think that OKG means a guy that will go and hide when the game is on the line or their behind in a score.

It wasn't the players calling for 39 pass plays vs 19 carries.

Again, you don't have a loss that bad without blaming everyone.

As for their seeming like they are stuck in the overall program development that's on the staff and Petersen specifically.

They look lost on offense. And really have been the whole time he's been here. It's time to go get top offensive minds. You don't have the limitations you had at a mid major program unless it is now self imposed.

There is no excuse for the lack of creativity, inability to adjust in game, failing to even test the younger receivers considering the issues with the upperclassmen, and of course not running more in that last game.

Look I live in the world of “ oh go with the upper class men” and I get it but this is college and if you have younger guy that can catch the damn ball better you need to see what he can do in the game

But but but Eason throws the ball too hard. If I read that one more time I'm going to track down the person who says it and take a fat shit on their porch.

Catch the fucking ball

That's fair and it's easier to rely on the next man up when it's not the next man up for 80% of the defense, especially when many of the defensive players who departed were exceptional. There is a compelling argument that the 9 players who departed were the best nine defensive players on the team.

I agree that getting beat by lesser teams isn't acceptable and I'd say roughly 75% of the blame for this loss falls on the coaching staff, but I think it would be a bit unrealistic to just expect that a bunch of 18-19 year olds are going to replicate the play of the experienced group we had the last few years.

There are a lot of issues to be addressed but I think we're all in agreement that Petersen needs to fire Hamden, hire someone with some experience as an offensive coordinator and take his hands off the offense.

Additionally I believe they fucked up with their linebacker recruiting. Wellington and Manu should not be starting right now. It's one thing to not have the instincts to play inside linebacker, but at least don't miss tackles like they did so many times against Stanford.

UW has been the elite program on the West Coast from 2016-2018. Fact of the matter is that the coaching staff isn't doing anything to alleviate the deficiencies of the offense or compensate for the lack of experience on the defense.

The program is and has been going in the right direction. This is starting to look like it's going to be a step-back season, but I don't think that means the house is on fire.

Ain’t blaming the players I blame the coach staff that recruits these OKG

The recruiting hasn't been the issue. The 2018 class was the best we had signed in 20 years. The 2019 class was better than that and the 2020 class has the possibility to surpass that.

I'll be honest I think the Huskies are going to lose at Arizona. Hopefully someone can quote this post after the game and I'll look like a complete moron, but with the way the defense has played I have a hard time imaging Arizona scoring less than 28 points unless they absolutely shit the bed. I doubt the linebackers will be able to contain Khalil Tate.

I could be overreacting to the Stanford loss but they exposed a lot of flaws with this team that Arizona will be able to exploit. Arizona IMO is also just a better team than Stanford. Even if the Huskies weren't so thoroughly out-coached at Stanford, it would've been a close game.

If they don't get their shit together I'll be experiencing another two day hangover.

Depends on which history you want to look at. Dawgs haven't played well in the desert. They also have destroyed the next team after their bad losses under Petersen.

Is it time to push the panic button for the Washington Huskies?

To make matters worse, UW’s offense looked lost against a Stanford team that had surrendered 45 points to USC and UCF. The Huskies had just 294 yards of total offense. What was must baffling was going away from the run game. Richard Newton ran the ball 10 times for 64 yards before getting injured. Salvon Ahmed had just six carries for 28 yards. As a team the Huskies had just 88 yards rushing. And in the fourth quarter, UW had zero rushing attempts. Instead quarterback Jacob Eason attempted 16 passes – completing just four.

I said this in a group chat to some of my friends and I'm still getting roasted for it.

Happy I was wrong.

I will say the nice thing about that game is that this is the first time I've really seen a willingness by the staff to play younger players more. I noticed that there were a lot of guys who hadn't played much getting a bunch of snaps.

Despite a few missed tackles by Asa Turner I think he had a good game. Felt like he was always around the ball. He showed some really good instincts for a true freshman.

That was a bad first half, really on both sides of the ball. Shit happens on the road. The surprising thing was that they actually adjusted and overcame being behind at the half and came back to win. Not just win, but really dominate that second half.

Makes you feel a lot better about where they are heading. Ducks are coming in this week full of their own success but really haven't faced their toughest stretch yet. Their next 5 games will define their season. Sure, they beat both of the teams that beat UW, but both had solid defenses against them and they were games at different times for both of those teams.

Seeing Puka break out a bit in that game and seeing that defense come back on the road against a strong running team and got things going bodes well.

Ducks open as 3 point favorites, but I'm putting at least 5k vCash on the dawgs to win.

Yeah the tale of two half's again. It was nice to see them snap that streak of when trailing at halftime as well.

I think reality set in with the coaching staff that if the fans and the media are okay with the younger guys playing then roll with it and let them gain the experience now instead of down the road.
