So am I the only one here that still thinks the Huskies have a legit shot at winning tomorrow? Feels like a whole lot of people are getting wrapped up in the duck hype. Sure, their D hasn't given up many points, but they haven't been challenged on the road either.

I think either the defense or special teams gets a score and they finish something like 27 - 21.

Of course this team is capable of screwing it up, but I expect a win.

No if they come out like they did act SC I believe they will roll the Ducks! I don’t think Ducks defense is all that, I think they took advantage of teams with below average offenses and it ballooned their stats!

Yes.

Well sorta. We have a chance, but I would take the Ducks covering the spread with ease personally. I think Oregon right now is just an all around better team and they'll either have to shit the bed and/or the Huskies will have to play much better than they have this entire season.

What to watch for when No. 25 Washington hosts No. 12 Oregon, plus Mike Vorel’s prediction

Not exactly much optimism from Mike Vorel.

I've been wrong more times than right so far this year, so hopefully this is another time where I'm wrong.

Vorel hasn't been right much this year. He says point black UW will not win, but puts the final score 24 - 20. Hardly a score with no chance to overcome.

Football isn't played in a vacuum. Location, time of year, outcomes in prior games, etc. All impact games.

I don't believe for a minute that UW has to play a flawless game to win. They can have drops and overcome a missed tackle or three.

In their two games away from home this year they are 1 - 1 and scored 21 in both. Their offense just isn't as scary on the road.

That was really the last straw on the season. They could win out and it's still fully an unacceptable bust of a year. You get 5 scores on that overhyped defense and the middle of that D couldn't hold up their end.

I don't I'm kind of torn on today. I thought the offensive game plan was spot on. They did enough to win a game today, (except that stupid wildcat, "Dear Bush you have it to much on tape and teams will D it up")

Defensive well once again piss poor tackling was on display again today. This program over the years had a reputation of the offense gets a lead the defense would seal the win. Not anymore that was terrible

In a whole this is a young team, I think we are seeing more and more of the younger guys getting PT and that is the way it should've been so I'm cool with today. They have way to much inexperience playing this year plus them trying to cover up the fact they have older players playing that never really have panned out, ( Hunter Bryant is over hyped and a straight up bust) I think they would be wise to make sure Eason comes back his senior year. He can easily be the #1 draft pick in 2021 and his completion percentage ain't close to what they want first round QBs at.

I agree with everything aside from Hunter Bryant being overhyped. Don't know what the deal is with him this season but I still believe he's a great talent. I believe he put on about 15lbs during the offseason. Be it muscle or fat, perhaps that added weight is slowing him down a bit.

I like an odd trick play, but Petersen really needs to stop doing it in important games unless they are behind or having issues and have to rely on a trick play to be competitive. It wasn't necessary in this game. They need to go away just like the Wildcat.

This program needs to grow up and find more of a killer mentality and less of a trick/gadgetry mentality.

I liked some of the things they did in this game. The offense had some spark early on. The defense had spells of competency, but the late game adjustments were lacking on both sides.

I'll give full credit to teams that simply out physical you. Stanford is one example. They dominated both sides of the ball and out coached this team. Oregon did not. They did make some big plays, but you can't let a team get like 3 4th down conversions? You can't blow tackles and blow your assignments leaving whole sides of the field wide open. They were just as strong at the lines as the ducks, but were not even close to as disciplined in their play. That's the frustrating part.

They have a lot of work to do over their bye week.

100% agreed!

I think its another off season of "evaluating the staff" and seeing what needs to happen to move forward. You have just as much speed on the field as Oregon does, why pull that crap when you can match speed on speed? This isn't year one and the talent is 10 times better then what Sark left behind. It made no sense at all.

In Bryant's last 13 games he has 41 catches for 690 yards for 16.8 YPC. That's pretty damn good for a TE if you ask me.

Those numbers over an entire season would be the best receiving year by a UW TE since Austin Seferian-Jenkins in 2012 and I believe would be the second most receiving yards by a TE in UW history.

I can understand running a trick play here and there, but why line up in the Wildcat with your fourth string runningback on three different third and short situations? It's way too predictable.

That aside I will say that this was likely Hamden's best game yet. Huskies put up 31 points against a damn good defense without their #2 and #3 HBs, and two starting WRs.

It started out solid for sure.

They failed to adapt in that second half and couldn't score late when it mattered most.

I just don't see them doing enough when their offense is struggling. Good OCs find plays to change things up, put defenses on their heels, and get their playmakers the ball.

I'm probably the first person who will call for Hamden's head, but aside from those stupid wildcat plays the offense played really well against a good defense.

That being said, "Data provided by Sports Info Solutions shows that 113 of Oregon’s 154 rushing yards were after contact and that the Ducks broke 13 tackle attempts."

Who do you blame for that?

Oh, if I didn't say it above I clearly said it in the game thread, but this loss was for sure on the D. Particularly again the LB's.

That is only 3.14 catches per game. Also that stat is miss leading since its 13 games there was games where he didn't have a catch.

My point is this, when it is a big game, he disappears, 3 catches from one of "your dudes" is not cutting it. And lets face it they threw the ball at least 30 times. He has 1 TD so far in the season, where does he go in the red zone? With this team and all the talk about red zone problems where is this guy at?

Double team on him? Okay but Oregon ran a ton of zone the other day, a Mackey Nominee this year can't find the soft spot in zone coverage? He's a tight end they are taught in high school how to find the open field.

Im sorry but to me this kid hasn't lived up to the hype of the stars

You can hang the lions share of the blame for this game on the defense. You can't give up 4th down plays. You can't have piss poor pass rushing at home. You can't blow tackles this late into the season. And you damned sure have no excuse for leaving one whiole side of the field open because of blown assignment.

That said, the offense has had its contribution to all of the losses. And the bulk of it is with the receivers.

The run game wasn't what it needed to be this week, but they were down two of their backs so they get a pass on it, but it still wasn't strong enough.

The narrative about how much they scored on that defense is hollow to me. I said before the game, and repeat it now, that their stats were skewed by a weak schedule up front stacked with home games and facing teams at their worst moments. Their D is exactly what I thought it was: improved from last year, but can be attacked.

And Eason so far has just been a harder throwing version of Browning. he hasn't really cost them games, but he sure hadn't lifted them up and carried them either.

When will this team recruit a back that weighs over 210? Someone that can grind a yard or two after three catch and doesn't get injured so easily?

That is one of my biggest issues this year is the poor tackling from the defense. You pride yourself on this unit over the years and let’s face it the media brags about it plus all the guys you send to the league, how can you not work at this? How can you sit there at press conferences and say “we didn’t tackle well.”

That one is blowing me away this year
