Well, never too early for a game thread, especially if it's Sunday.
What are the things to look for today? I'd say:
1) ANY offensive line improvement:
Pretty obvious this is on the list. PFF had Rees rated terribly as the left tackle and no surprise. He looked terrible in preseason but I guess it's all we have with Fant's injury. RW was pressured on over 40% of passing snaps last week which was actually higher than last years average. What's scary is that was Green Bay who has a decent pass rush but nothing compared to St. Louis for example. Hopefully there's improvement.
2) Jimmy Graham to show up:
Not sure what Graham was doing last week but dropped a critical 3rd down pass and was basically non-existent the entire game. Sadly he's probably being asked to block 24/7 because of our terrible O-Line but the coaches really need to let him go this game. Of all the red zone downs I think we targeted him once and granted he got cheated out of a PI penalty, but we gotta be targeting him more than that.
3) Lacy's fatass benched:
I for one am NOT impressed by Lacy. He looked slow in preseason and he looks slow as fuck now against all the real starters. Start Carson, hopefully Rawls comes back soon, and release Lacy. Maybe he'll start and have a good game against the lowly 49ers but I'd rather just see Carson get the rock and boost his confidence + get him good reps against a terrible team so he goes into next week with a good bit of steam. Rawls is supposed to play, but not holding my breath and not sure with his durability issues how reliable he's even going to be down the road. Carson might be the answer, either way - it's not Lacy.
