For me:

Chipper Jones- 1512 career walks, 1409 career strikeouts, never had triple digit strikeouts in a season.

I'll just leave this at this Chewy:

Second player to hit a walk-off home run in Game 6 (4 of them overall with Fisk, Carter and Freese).

Pedro Martinez: 2.52 ERA as a Red Sox pitcher... in the height of the sillyball era (98-04). 1.90 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 597/69 K/BB in 1999-2000.

Not even close to my favorite player, but Wade Boggs has supposedly drank 100 beers in a 24 hr period.....

Last guy to hit above .400 in a season. Ted Williams.

Those two years by Pedro are arguably the best pitching performance (regular season) in history, especially like you say considering the era.

I know I'm stretching the rules but one of my favorite baseball 'stats' is how in the 2005 ALCS, after the White Sox lost game 1 to the Angels, they proceeded to win the next 4 games....all with complete games from their starting pitchers, 4 in a row.

That will never happen again (in the playoffs, let alone the regular season), until the Earth crashes into the Sun.

The most hits ever, in world history, by a man named Ichiro.

Had a White Sox/Bears fan roommate in '05.

Worst year of my life.

He honestly would have to be the Kobayashi of beers. That's 4+ beers an hour, which is not hard if it's for 2 or 3 hours, but almost impossible for 24 and that's without any sleep.

George Brett's .390 in 1980 and his temper tantrum level 1000 in July of '83.

.424 batting average by Rogers Hornsby ... scored 121 runs 24 home runs and 89 RBIs that year ... finished 2nd in the MVP to Dazzy Vance (I' still call bullshit on that one).

I'd like to see him do that in the expansion (craft beer) era...

He drinks mostly light beers....A friend saw him at the WWE in Texas a few years ago and watched him put down like 20 Amstels......He said everyone was counting.....I tip my cap, but the beers we like would slow him down dramatically....

Probably Nolan Ryan's career strikeouts and no-hitters.

This doesn't really count as a stat, but Carlos Baerga hitting two home runs in the same inning, from both sides of the plate, was pretty cool.

That reminds me of Billy Mueller hitting 2 grand slams in the same game (against the Rangers?); one from each side of the plate.

Donald Arthur Mattingly

From 7/8/87 to 7/18/87 he was a one-man wrecking crew. 8 consecutive games with a HR, 10 HR and 21 RBI during the 8 games. His OPS went from .901 to 1.013 in a little over a week.

As a young SS forced to move to 2B I thought Craig Biggio was the best. The stat? It's boring but it's gotta be the 285 HBPs, more than anyone as far as I'm concerned (Eeyah Hughie can fuck off with his 19th century bullshit  )
