As a young SS forced to move to 2B I thought Craig Biggio was the best. The stat? It's boring but it's gotta be the 285 HBPs, more than anyone as far as I'm concerned (Eeyah Hughie can fuck off with his 19th century bullshit  )
Utley had 204 in way less plate appearances. Did biggio wear the armor? I always liked biggio other than when the Astros kept the Phillies out of the playoffs a couple years in a row.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but on a rate basis I'm guessing Dietrich and Ron Hunt are in a class all by themselves anyway. Biggio wore an elbow pad later in his career but I'm not sure exactly when he began.

Lonnie Smith has roughly (38.5-38.7) the same career WAR as Harold Baines in 5000 fewer plate appearances. Also played in 5 World Series, winning 3. He received 1 vote for the Hall of Fame.

Scott Podsednik is not my favorite player... but...

For a guy to hit 0 HR's in 568 regular season PA's and then hit a walk-off home run in the World Series? That is pretty f'ing remarkable.
