Well there are really only 2 d ranked that high in Larsson and Murphy, maybe Hamilton but I don't think he's the type we need. Luckily most of the rest in the top 10 are centers and I landeskog is the only wing.... but he's played center too I think, I wouldn't exactly cry if we ended u w him
if the oilers grab the top pick they are taking larrson...i would believe the isles look to d also since they have some good youth upfront. 6 picks left
Not to be a spoil sport, but let's keep in mind that there's no guarantee that couturier if we were to draft him, would be ready to play with a guy like Kovalchuk next year. The Devils have always been slow and steady with prospects, except for Gomez.
if we picked him, and he made the team which is a stretch in itself, i would be he'd be the 3rd line center, and probably not with kovy of course. he'd be in a role with minutes and some shelter at the same time.
but also mc don't forget, teddy josefson zajac, all entered the league within 2 years of being drafted, jj in 1. thats not quite slow and steady considering where they were picked, you have to remember we haven't had many prospects who were truely highly touted to ALL organizations in a while, (until maybe teddy and jj) and now were almost garunteed to get one of those. but considering this is NOT a bad team either, whoever it is of course will be pressed to make the team.
well cup don't forget tho, button also has a video to go w that list and he says if he was ottawa he'd be taking larsson at 2, no matter what his own personal rankings are, out of need. he also has strome and huberdeau ranked slightly higher than most, and if we go center i'm gonna bet its gonna be one of those two, i'm gonna assume coutourier will be gone by 8
I agree unless they really impress at camp whoever they pick is in the minors for 1 year. Let's not forget the player is going to be highly touted and should be nhl ready pretty quickly. I just believe with 14 years left with Kovy and hopefully 8+ mote with Zach u want a great player maker to center either of their lines. I'm pumped
central scoutings final rankings came out 2 days ago too..... good suprise for everyone (in a way)
coutourier has fallen to number 8 among North american skaters, and only 1 european based player is supposed to go in the top 10 and thats larsson (landeskog goes down as NA because he played in the OHL this year) with any luck, coutourier may still be around
