Will a win on Sunday mean Brady is the greatest QB of all-time?

He has 6 Super Bowl appearances, and 3 wins as a starter. If the Patriots win on Sunday, he'll have the same number of Super Bowl wins as Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw, but more appearances.

Brady already has 2 Super Bowl MVP trophies and 2 League MVP trophies. If he gets his third Super Bowl MVP, he will tie Montana for second most MVP trophies in NFL history.

At the very least, it would only leave Brady and Montana as the only ones in the conversation.

Agreed. But that's probably true already. Not a lot of basis for putting any one guy over both of those.

Note: I'm not saying you necessarily have to have them 1-2 in some order, although I actually do. I'm just saying they're the only good candidates for #1.

I rule out anybody before much before Montana and Marino because they didn't have to face defenses nearly as complex as modern ones. Montana over Bradshaw and Marino seems pretty straightforward. I put Brady over Manning and Rodgers on a career basis for various obvious reasons. And I hope nobody is lobbying for Elway, Aikman, Favre or Young as #1 overall.

No one else has made it to 6 SBs. If NE wins and Brady has a big game with the production coming while the game is competitive (unlike Manning last year), then I think it's awfully hard to argue he isn't the best. Just wondering -- has there ever been this large of a gap between SB appearances for a QB?

Off the top of my head, no. Manning had a 6 year span and Favre nearly pulled off a SB appearance after a 12 year drought?

Unitas did go 9 years between his 1959 and 1968 NFL Championships.

There isn't a QB today that could hold Sid Luckman's jockstrap.

Do you mean appearances or wins? Brady hasn't had that long between appearances.

I see the Rmilia Trolling Academy has at least one graduate.

Child, please!

What reactionary nonsense which completely dismisses that this guy is the second worst cheater of our generation behind Lance Armstrong.

But this thread has gotten a response from me, which is certainly more than it deserves.

I'm sure he already is in some football fans eyes.
I think Montana remains the man

Follow up question, how much does it hurt his greatest QB ever qualifications if he loses? Would losing his last 3 Super Bowls make him any less worthy of consideration or does making those Super Bowls count enough?

That's absurd.

When did we get to the point where "rings" were the lone criteria in measuring individual players in team sports?

No I do not think it will but he certainly will be more in the conversation.

And to answer the question: "What if he loses?" - Sure I am sure it could hurt him legacy as well, but it depends on how he plays individually.

By their own criteria Eli > Brady

Mentioning Brady along with Montana is incredibly absurd.
