KC has a wide open score now offense, which doesnt help the defense. When the saints were doing the same thing, everyone thought the Saints defense was in shambles. When their offense wasnt scoring so often the defense looked much better. One thing the Saints are confident in. Whether a bad defense or a lower scoring Offense, they trusted Brees to lead them to a victory.

I think another thing that will hurt Mahomes is that Alex Smith was legitimately in the MVP discussion last season. Voters may look at that and say it's not really Mahomes being anything amazing but he's having this production because of the system he's in. Of course Mahomes is better than Smith and having a better year (48 TD's, 11 INT's and 4800 yards compared to Smith's 26 TD's, 5 INT's, and 4000 yards) but if any QB can have success on the Chiefs is Mahomes really the Most Valuable Player?

& no. I dont think he needs to be a game manager, nor do I mean to demean his accomplishments. he is a very worthy player of the MVP. I just dont look at a shit ton of Tds as a sole reason for MVP. I ask if a QB gets a team inside the 5 & runs it in. Did he not do just as well as the QB that threw it for a TD?
Chiefs has a top 2 TE & maybe the most explosive WR in the league.
Saints has one WR & a bunch of UDFAs catching the ball. Simply speaking Mahomes should have more stats.

I am not gonna be upset if either wins the MVP.

He’s been amazing, even in their losses. I don’t see it hurting him enough for him to lose the award...but people do weird things so maybe someone other than him wins.

After marinating on it a while:

Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent. He's had a killer year. But it's just his first season as a starter, 2nd year in the league. If he's really this good, he'll have plenty more chances to win the award.

Brees is a surefire first ballot HOFer, SB Champ, on the back 9 (and probably the last few holes at that) of a brilliant career, and this is possibly his last best chance at it. It should go to him.
