Should be a difference between Valuable and Outstanding. Because the words mean different things.

I think Wilson is more valuable to Seattle than either of those guys are to their teams.

Maybe not quite as "outstanding", but for sure more valuable.

Mahomes is kind of like Steve Nash on the Suns. If he isn't special then you really see all of the flaws on the team.

Seattle runs the ball more than anyone else and they have a good defense. Not even sure why he is in the conversation, tbh.

I think Mahomes' chances have taken a shot to the face with these last 2 losses. He was outdueled at home last week by Rivers, then last night by RW.

Brees deserves to get one, and this is as good a year as any.

Though I think he has no chance to get serious MVP consideration, an honorable mention case can be made for Russell Wilson. In a year immediately following the career ending injuries to Kam Chancellor & Cliff Avril, trading Bennett, cutting Sherman, and early season-ending injury to ET, Baldwin missing several games and being injured most of season, hardly anyone thought Seattle would have a chance at even 8-8, let alone playoffs. Russell is 3rd in TD passes despite being 20th in attempts, 112.7 passer rating (3rd behind Brees and Mahomes), a 34:6 TD to INT ratio, and locked into the playoffs and will probably end up with 10 wins if they can somehow beat AZ at home next week. Only QB in NFL history to start with 7 straight winning seasons.

I still think Mahomes gets the MVP, but the Chiefs are looking like a classic one and done Andy Reid playoff team right now.

A tie isn't unprecedented. I think for every guy who will be swayed by some superior stats that Mahomes has, there will be another who thinks a lifetime achievement award for Brees is due....plus the fact that he's having an excellent season as well.

My sentimental choice would be either Brees or Rivers. But it's hard logically to go against Mahomes.

Rivers and Wilson are playing the best right now. Mahomes has certainly had the better year overall. Brees in the sentimental favorite but I'd go with Mahomes right now. .

I think it's down to Brees, Mahomes and Gurley. If Ben could stop throwing INTs, he'd be in the discussion as well.

Mahomes has been the best player, and most deserving. But that doesn't mean he'll win it. Dude is gonna throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 TD's. Lol. It would be laughable if he doesn't win it, and this is coming from someone who likes and respects Brees.

I agree to a degree. But without the legit threat the Wilson poses teams would just stack the line and stuff the run more often. Seattle's run game wouldn't be nearly as effective if they had a shitty QB.

I agree the run game wouldn’t be as effective. But isn’t that the case with all run games? For the most part

Sure. Great QBs make the whole offense better because defenses need to respect what they can do. Wilson helps open holes for the run game because teams can't stack the box because they know he can throw the ball extremely well. He also does the read option probably better than any other QB and that is extremely helpful in opening lanes for the RBs.

And let me add that I am absolutely NOT suggesting Wilson is in the running for MVP. He might get some 3rd place votes but Mahomes will run away with it. Brees has had a historic year too, breaking some records and having a 74% completion percentage, so he might get some votes. But Wilson is only in the discussion for 3rd or 4th place in my opinion. Still a great season though.

Agreed.....but RW not even making the Pro Bowl is a joke.
