Giants definitely belong. 4 titles in the SB era, long history, lots of great players, and 2-0 versus the GOAT

okayThe only rule that should be considered when it comes to storied franchises in any sport is this: can the history of the game be told without including said franchise.
okay
the list of not a storied franchise is much much shorter

You want to claim Night Train off of 2 seasons?Rams are definitely one of the storied franchises.
They have won 4 titles ( 45, 51, 99 and 2021 ), been in 10 titles games/SB’s over.
Been in the playoffs every year decade, had some of the most iconic players to play the game ( some with iconic nicknames as well ie “Night Train”, “Crazy Legs” etc ).
Been in the playoffs in 31 seasons overall, overall record of 599-580-21. 134 pro-bowlers and 19 HOFers.
I think 10 works. There should be lots of agreement about the top 4-5, and then lots of vigorous debate about the last 3-4I did think about that when I made this thread. There's a good or great case to be made for many teams. That's why my follow up is going to be a poll of who are the top 10 most storied. Too many? Maybe I should make it top 8 or fewer for the poll.
they are in that much much shorter list I referred to.You can't tell the history of the NFL without the Jacksonville Jaguars.
I don't have a problem in Pats not making the top 10 list, this is the top storied franchise and not winningest, and they were pretty gloom with previous 2 owners. Bears, GB, Giants, Browns are some of OG's and some have been around since day 1, 100 years. Then the next 6 are subjective imo with the next 3 dynasties in Pitt, SF, Dallas taking the list to 7. When I think of NFL , Think of Lambeau field, named after Curly, Bears with Halas and McCaskey, Browns with Paul Brown and all the success they had then, Pitt with the Rooneys and the Steel Curtain, Cowboys as "America's team" and nice runs in 70's with Landry and Staubach, and again in 90's with Johnson and the Triplets,Dolphins- only team to go undefeated
Bills only team ever to appear in 4 consecutive SBs
Jets- pushed the AFL and nfl merger. Sure it would have happened anyway. But this was a clear reason to do it. And guaranteed it.
Giants- that one is an obvious one. Probably too 5 most important history.
Hell, the patriots only became a top storied team in the past 20 years. Before that they would not be even close to a top 20 most storied franchise.
I did accidentally leave out the bears.
Too much of the Rams' last 40-50 years ia garbage football. And they dont have the same panache as a brand like the Raiders or Giants doWith last night's win, maybe Rams make the club? They do have Fearsome Foursome, Eric Dickerson, and Greatest Show on Turf. Maybe the relocations hurt them? But I agree with the Colts.
Did somebody piss in your Wheaties? LOLThat a bunch of BS if I ever heard one.
So, by your criteria, the Lakers are not a storied franchise in the NBA because they moved from Minneapolis to LA.
The only rule that should be considered when it comes to storied franchises in any sport is this: can the history of the game be told without including said franchise.
You cannot tell the story of the NFL without the Rams ( whether it is Cleveland/StL/LA ).
Rams started the passing game as we know it back in the 50’s when much of the game was about running the football and defense.
Can’t tell the story of the NFL without guys like Deacon Jones, Olsen, Youngblood, Slater, Warner and the Greatest Show on Turf, etc.
Doesn’t matter if the team has moved or not. It’s still part of the history of the NFL.
Sure buddyStoried franchises that win a Super Bowl have more than 3 or 4 hundred show up to their victory parade.View attachment 289493
