 Are you saying that they haven't spent in the past? The new stadium isn't going to give them any more freedom.

As it was, they finished 2015 with $3MM in cap space (can't spend everything... need to have some space for mid-season roster moves due to injuries,etc...). They should be around $21MM under the cap, once the league year wraps up.

Absolutely they haven't been spending much the last couple of years. That is why I am just waiting for Zygi to open up their wallet either this offseason or next and blow the doors off of the fans and bring in big name or two to compliment our core group with some of that new stadium money.

Cap means nothing. They manipulate to make it look like we are spending. That is why they went into last offseason with almost $30M in space, traded for Wallace, and called it an offseason. Most NFL teams right now are just pushing the cap numbers around to make it look like they are spending the max amount when in fact they aren't. Very few teams are maximizing their spending ability in the last couple of years with the cap exploding faster than the owners want to keep up.

James Laurinaitis released by the Rams. Wouldn't mind trying to sign him for depth.

He hasn't missed a game in his entire career. Wonder what he's looking for in terms of $$$.

He's a Minnesota boy. He has been solid this whole career, but his numbers have dropped the last two. Might not be too bad.

He'll get a 1 or 2 year deal with salary in the neighborhood of $3M a year or so IMO. Would actually be less than we paid for Greenway last year. If it gets higher than that, then we can go to a plan B.

We could kick Kendricks to WLB in our base (which is his more natural position) and make Laurinaitis a 2 down LB.

Another fallback guy like this would be Tulloch from Detroit. And if it all goes haywire on the FA market, we can give Greenway a call back too.

What I really want in FA though: Reggie Nelson. Zimmer's D could take the next step if we had not one but two talented and versatile safties. But I kind of think we won't see that just because Spielman won't want to tie up too much money at that position.
