I seen that. He's had a great start to the season. It's going to hurt, but hopefully Zimmer has them ready. Defense has been solid so far. Minus a couple drives, they've done good.

Ha... I still remember a few people on this board pissing and moaning when I made the thread about the Vikings drafting Bridgewater. I wonder if they're still pissy about it, or ready to embrace the decision they made to go get him.

I loved the pick when they took Teddy but it's one game let's not get crazy just yet. Atlanta's defense sucks.

I'm not saying that this game alone convinces me he's a future top 5 QB, but thus far, he has shown good solid signs of progression from preseason to the present. Some made it out like he was going to flat out suck, and thus far, he's looking like our best QB prospect in a very long time.

It's waaaaaaaay to early to start talking about how great he's gonna be, there will be growing pains. Let's see what he does when he plays a good defense who has a week to plan for him...

Best QB prospect in a long time? Well, that I agree on since there hasn't been one in decades...

Being a Vikings fan for 40 years has taught be to not get to excited when things look promising...

Dang, you're actually more cynical than I am. I've been a fan for about 20 years, and that time has been more than enough to keep me from getting my hopes up too much for this team. The 1998 and 2009 NFC Championship losses have to be among the biggest non-Superbowl game let downs in NFL history, and I am sure having been a fan of 40 years and witnessing even more of this team's letdowns (the list could go on all day) couldn't make it any better. All that said, being at an extremely busy and stressful point in my life (for the better) with things non-football related, I'm not in any mood lately to get too hung up on the Vikings. Bad as they've been over several recent years, I try to look at the bight side without being too big of a homer about it.

I'm not saying Teddy is about to make NFL history and take us to the promised land this season - regardless of how well he does, the odds are stacked against this team with so much going wrong so early, beginning of course with the sudden loss of the face of the franchise in AP. However, there are pretty distinct differences between Bridgewater and our other most recent attempts at getting franchise QBs - before his bad pro day, Bridgewater could have been considered challenging Clowney for the #1 overall selection of the draft based on his film, or certainly likely the first QB off the board at least - neither Ponder nor TJax were ever that highly regarded. Both Ponder and TJax were considered big reaches at the time they were drafted, whereas it was speculated that Teddy may have been a steal at #32. I never recall Ponder or TJax looking anywhere near as poised in the pocket as Bridgewater. That said, the O line really stepped up in this game, and hopefully Khalil finally keeps heading back in the right direction. Maybe Teddy is future franchise QB material, maybe not. But so far, he has shown as much promise as we could reasonably expect, so we should enjoy that.

A great win yesterday with lots pf promising signs. They still need to improve 3rd down efficiency on both sides of the ball, though.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Teddy. I just hope for the best and expect the worst.

Losing to Atlanta in 98 was the only time I have ever cried because of a sporting event, now I didn't cry my eyes out but my eyes did get watery, that was our year we were so much better than Atlanta and we were so much better than Denver. It's because of that game that I have become such a debbie downer, although I put 100% of the blame on Denny Green!

98 was a true travesty. 09 wasn't much better consider the tease of us moving into scoring position!!!

I just like Teddy and the way he plays. He knows when to run. He knows when to check it down for great gains. He has the arm to throw it. Shame we just don't have much of a deep threat cuz the guy can air it out(actually too far with wright lol).

The one and only positive to no AP is that Asiata and McKinnon are perfect passing game running backs for Teddy. Now if only they could run like AP!!!

To me, 2009 was worse. 2009 presented them with a more realistic chance of actually winning the Superbowl than 1998. Vikings should have had home field advantage - they could easily have gone 15-1 instead of 12-4. They got screwed by a bs call that cost them the regular season game against Pittsburgh, choked in a game that should have been a win in Chicago, and got beat by a shitty team in Carolina because they couldn't handle playing in a little rain outdoors. Even on the road, they outplayed New Orleans big time in the NFC Championship - they gave up 6 turnovers, take away even one of those for 5 and they probably win, make it 3 instead of 6 and it would probably been a spanking for New Orleans. Then, NO proved that the Colts were very beatable that year. The '98 Broncos would have been very tough to beat - only way the Vikes take that game is to score at least 40 points, as Terrell Davis would have lit them up, and John Randle was banged up too for that matter.

It is really sad to think they had a very legit shot at a Ryan Longwell FG to end it in regulation until that awful 12 men in the huddle call. As soon as that happened, I smelled the ensuing Favre pick coming... that idiot Chilly and the rest of the coaches should have sent them out immediately for a bs, safe AP run to kill time, then let Long well have his shot. Easily one of the biggest fails in team history.

The part that made it worse was that once we got into field goal territory on the Rice(I believe) reception.

We conceded driving any farther and were satisfied with a long field goal. So we do 1 or 2 AWFUL run plays, manage to lose yards. Then comes the legendary Favre roll out..like wtf..

If you are going to start with the safe run, finish with it. Childress was a world class clown.

The 98 Vikings were the highest scoring team in NFL history at the time, plus they had a pretty damn good defense. Dont know how you could say that the 09 team had a better chance... They didnt. Farve was hot that year, but Farve has always been a hot and cold QB. The defense was 6th in the league for points while the 09 team was 10th. In fact, there were only 2 other defenses better than the 98 defense since 76 and both of them were in the 80s. We havent had a better D than the 98 Vikings since then.

There's no way you could argue that the '98 defense was better than the '09 defense. If anything, the '98 team had the better offense, while '09 had the better defense. The '98 defense ranked 13th in the league, not terrible by any means, but not spectacular either - it was a decent defense that wouldn't lose you many games when the offense was doing well. But, consider how great the '98 O was - surely, the D benefited from that to a good extent. Trade the #1 '98 Vikings O for say the #10 O that year, and that defense becomes worse than 13th in the league. You are implying that the '98 D could somewhat carry an average game, which simply isn't the case. Comparatively, the '09 defense was #6 in the league, and keep in mind all of the rule changes that had gone down by then that made it harder to play defense, and that the '09 defense had a very good offense to compliment it, but nothing compared to the '98 offense. See, even the statistics back up my analysis that I didn't originally resort to stats to back up. The '09 Vikings were a better overall team than '98 when you consider that they had a top 6 D to go with that very good '09 O.

I guess i'll just say WOW, no way no how was the 09 team better than 98 team, IMO it's not even close.

The 98 defense allowed less points, the 98 offense scored more points. The point differential was over 100 in favor of 98.

Shit in my option the 88 team was better than the 09 team.

Yeah, I struggle to see much wrong with the 98 team. Not only was it a travesty they didn't win that year.

There really haven't been many teams since that time that could compete with that roster. It was a loaded team where 1 game, 1 kick halted the glory.
