They do that because, in order to start the season on the PUP (if necessary) said player had to begin training camp on PUP as well. Basically it's a cover your ass move in case the injury lingers into the season. That's why you see so many players with pretty minor injuries on the PUP this time of year...

He's allergic to metal? As in any metal at all? I think the reporter left out some details, like he's allergic to certain types of metals- like gold.

My wife was allergic to the gold in her ring, so they plated it with some sort of different plating and it's fine now.

"Metal" encompasses a very large group- gold, silver, steel, titanium, aluminum, iron, stainless, tungsten, etc... he can't be allergic to all that shit and still lead any sort of regular life...
