Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he did them for over a decade. But if we're saying Bonds didn't cheat because there were no official rules with suspensions and testing til that went into effect then you kind of have to give Rodriguez a pass until then. And he put up some great numbers in the seasons before that. I guess it depends on where you cut off his numbers or whether the later career suspensions disqualifies him from being in the all time great list. But again, yeah, he definitely used steroids and probably for a long, long time.

Trout, I don't know about. He's never failed a test that I know of and if he was using some stuff you would think it would help him recover better from these constant injuries.

Trout should definitely start taking them again.

Teddy Ballgame was certainly the best hitter of all time (think about his career Fenway OBP of .500), but overall, he should be 5-10...

And when you think about the fact that tens of thousands of players (I think the number is close to 20,000) have come and gone through MLB in its 140+ year existence, that is pretty darn good to be anywhere in the Top 25. That 25th guy may get demonized in this forum for all his faults, whoever he ends up being, but he'll still be in the Top .125% of MLB players. Expand that to all the guys who ever played minor league ball (maybe 40,000 but probably low), and it likely goes to Top .0625%. Then, if you include college and high school (spitballing that 100,000 players have played high school, college and/or professional in the US over the same time period. Probably way too low of a number), we are talking about Top .025% all time. Talk about splitting hairs!

If Teddy Ballgame merely lands at number 10 (I don't think I'd put him that low but it will be hard to parse all the guys out for the 5 through 10 spots), he will still be around Top .01% Talk about elite!

Yeah, just eyeballing ESPN's list and they have Tony Gwynn at #44. Thats a heck of a player. Carlton Fisk at #87. These are all great players.
