@PolarVortex needs to make this argument.
Tony Cloninger was the best player ever in one game. Harvey Haddix was the best pitcher ever in one game. I was the best 10-year-old little league player ever in one game. No 10-year-old little leaguer, competing against 11 and 12 year olds, hit two homeruns and threw a no-hitter in a 7 inning game

But what about every other Saturday between ‘42 and ‘51 (excepting ‘48, obviously)?
What aboutnot getting butthurt because Mays comes up short. It's okay. He's still, like, top 15....among position players....probably.

Injuries are part of the game. Prime reason Oscar Tavares will never be mentioned in any of these discussions.
Reading what is actually written and absorbing its actual meaning is part of reading comprehension too

I'd have Big Train, and maybe Pedro & Rocket ahead of some of those guys...
I won't compare pitchers to hitters. IMO, their importance to a team is measured in entirely different ways. Big Train has to be top 10 in any discussion about all time great pithers. Pedro's only fault is that he didn't have as long of a prime as most of the greats. Clemens is top 10 and belongs in the Hall. Edgar and Papi are in. Those guys were roiders too but somehow got a free pass. I guess they were sweet to the press.

Except pitching. Ohtani checks all the boxes too (hitting, baserunning, pitching...but we don't know if he can field (I bet he'd be a great outfielder though)
When Ohgambli has 7 or 8 more years like the last two, then he can enter the discussion.

If he stays elite as both a pitcher and hitter only another 4-5 years are required to be in the discussion.

Mays had him on defense, and that's it. Bonds was better in every other aspect. And Mays, for most of his career, had better hitters around him in the lineup. Bonds had - LOL - Andy Van Slyke, Bobby Bonilla for a couple years, and a bunch of nobodies in Pittsburgh. In San Fran he had literally no one of significance until Kentt arrived. But Kent wasn't there Bond's first five years in SF nor his last five years in SF. Meanwhile, Mays was playing alongside HOFers Orlando Cepada and Willie McCovey and All Stars like Jim Ray Hart, Felipe Alou, and Bobby Bonds.

LOL. Glad you aren't making this up as you go. I'm sure you've got a legitimate link.

Link to what? My opinion is just different than yours. Cry about it more.

I agree with this for the most part (although Bonds had other all stars around him too not just Kent, especially in SF). I just dock him for the PEDs and being a prick. It's just an internet sports discussion after all. Bonds (and Clemens) definitely need to be in the Hall of Fame though.
