Oh gee, after looking at them I thought they came out of your ass.Agreeed. Mays is not even top five. He may not be top 10. Ruth, Hornsby, Musial, Pujols, Gehrig, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Bonds. There's eight just off the top of my head.
I suppose that's true although Robb nen and Shawn Estes did not provide him lineup protection to the same degree that McCovey and Cepada provided lineup protection to Mays.I agree with this for the most part (although Bonds had other all stars around him too
Cry bout dem awful PEDs just one more time cuz it can never be enough with you PED crybabies. Amirite? Willie has his jug of geen juice that was loaded with amphetamines.not just Kent, especially in SF). I just dock him for the PEDs
Yeah, that makes him less of a player.and being a prick.
It's just an internet sports discussion after all. Bonds (and Clemens) definitely need to be in the Hall of Fame though.
Other hitters around him like Rich Aurilia and Benito Santiago were all stars too but I can agree Mays had better protection in general.I suppose that's true although Robb nen and Shawn Estes did not provide him lineup protection to the same degree that McCovey and Cepada provided lineup protection to Mays.
I'm not a PED cryer, I've been saying forever that Bonds and Clemens and others deserve to be in the HOF. But in the subjective game we're playing here, it's my tie breaker for all time greats.Cry bout dem awful PEDs just one more time cuz it can never be enough with you PED crybabies. Amirite? LOL. When it comes to understanding baseball statistics, you are still in peewee league. You guys who think Mays is the second greatest are consistently biased two ways: One - you overrate homeruns. Two - you are hung up on the eye test. If you didn't see it, you don't believe it. I could go on and on about why there are a handful of players that none of us ever saw play, who are better than Mays, but I'd be wasting my time on guys like you. So, I won't.Oh gee, after looking at them I thought they came out of your ass.
Mays is by far a better player than everyone you listed except Ruth.
Hornsby was a great hitter but so were Weaver and Lajoie. Lajoie isn't on the list as a lifetime 339 hitter and single-season mark of 426. I'll take Lajoi over Hornsby
Other than crying like a bitch about PEDS in post #114 while defending Mays who was a self-admitting amphetamine user during his playing career.Other hitters around him like Rich Aurilia and Benito Santiago were all stars too but I can agree Mays had better protection in general.
I'm not a PED cryer,

These arguments are always like this, no way to definitively prove who's 'best' with all time greats, they all had different circumstances, eras, teammates, managers, etc. The fun is the arguing.
Play in an era of Japanese baseball that wasn't the equivalent of current AA baseball in the United States? What does Sadaharu Oh have to do to get some love on here?
Puljos was a fraud. Anyone who brings him up in any discussion about anything needs to be shamed out of the room.I can't believe you left YOGI out, far better than Puljos
Not even the greatest Yankee catcheerI can't believe you left YOGI out, far better than Puljos
You mean about the level of competition that Ruth faced?Play in an era of Japanese baseball that wasn't the equivalent of current AA baseball in the United States?

Oh, you’re a cryer, alright.Other hitters around him like Rich Aurilia and Benito Santiago were all stars too but I can agree Mays had better protection in general.

LOL. Exactly. He probably shouldn’t even be on this list.Play in an era of Japanese baseball that wasn't the equivalent of current AA baseball in the United States?
Chap, are the Red Sox gonna flank the Yanks and Mets and steal Soto?Oh, you’re a cryer, alright.
I’ll never recover from such savageryOh, you’re a cryer, alright.
I wish, but I doubt it! They are putting their best foot forward, however, and they DO have $$$ to spend, so we shall see. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.Chap, are the Red Sox gonna flank the Yanks and Mets and steal Soto?
i.e., still butthurt that I won't acknowledge MaysYou mean about the level of competition that Ruth faced?
How does a comment about Ruth in response to a comment about Oh equate to some butt hurt feels about Mays?i.e., still butthurt that I won't acknowledge Mays
Multiple offers for $600+ million. LOL. It's like the baseball owners just skipped right over the $400 million and $500 millions and leapfrogged to the $600 million and $700 millions.I wish, but I doubt it!
