Ripping the trade does not mean Alderson was considered in Wheeler's class, or even close to it. Freddy was injured, the secondbase market was going to be a buyers market the next year. The main criticism of the trade was mostly the way Sabean piece-mealed his prospects (Barnes, Alderson) to go after complementary players rather than a middle of the order bat.

Bottom line, criticizing either or both trades does not imply much about how people view Wheeler and Alderson.

Nate has more value as a CF going forward. His bat plays better there. But yeah, any way you want to mix Ross, Beltran, Schierholtz this year is okay with me. Obviously, I'm losing faith in Torres's ability to hit, and I'm willing to give a little on D.

You wouldn't be giving much. This is a great idea the more I consider it.

Wild ass guess: Less than 2%. Put another way, if he were to not pitch again this year, you could make a pretty good argument that he's earned Zito's 2011 salary already. I'd say just about any minor league pitcher would give blood to be guaranteed this type of a run.
