Yes and no. It is true that when you are trading a star and still trying to compete, it's about players more than picks.

However, in this case, they were trading a young star for an older star to try to win now. Trading for AD changed their timeline.

They basically set themselves up to try to win a title in the next 3ish years...then go into a rebuild. 1st round draft picks will be important for that.

sure....and they got one. Plus what seems like a solid young player.
