Any generational players in the 2025 draft ?

Next big one is Gavin McKenna in the 2026 draft. At least that I've read about in terms of the like Crosby, McDavid, level guys.

People seem to like Hagens (C), Misa (C), and Schaefer (D) in this draft, but I think that's more legit 1st liner type guys, but not Crosby/McDavid level.

I saw McKenna play every game in the WJC. That kid just turned 17 and was the best offensive player on Team Canada by a good margin

He is in the mold of Crosby, Bedard type of player. If he doesn't get hurt everyone will trying to get him.

Maybe that's Danny's grand plan. Hang around, establish the culture and whatever for 23-24-25, loaded up on picks in '25 to get depth in pipeline and give them the 25-26 to develop. Hope for McKenna in the 2026 draft and go into the 2026-27 season with McKenna, Luchanko, and 4-5 other rookies, name TK the captain and see if the thing takes off with his leadership and Michkov/McKenna leading the offense.

Pipe dream of all pipe dreams, but if that's how the cookie crumbles the Flyers could contend for 15 years on that foundation.

All Cup dreams began as pipe dreams. You have to fucking start somewhere....Lol

As of right now, we're picking 6th, 22nd, 30th, 38th, 40th, 47th and 48th overall in the 2025 draft. We will very likely slide back further and pick top 4. We're not catching San Jose for #1 overall, but everything else is possible. I think picking 4th overall is most likely, but we'll be right there for 2nd or 3rd. The Preds and Hawks have extra games to play and I'd say we're in full-on tank mode at this point.

This is supposedly a deep draft that has a really good top 3-4 players and also players that could potentially be good Nhler's nearly through the end of the 2nd round.

Well, we have seven bites at that apple, because the 2nd round goes through pick #64. Again, we have 7 picks in the top 48, plus I think we'll get one of the top 4. It's more than a pipe dream, to me, if you pick the right players and/or make the right trades and develop these guys properly. You can even miss a few times, but if the top 4 pick is a star and we hit a couple other times, we're in good shape.

I didn't get to see the damn game, but it's great to put another nail in the coffin of our hated rivals. We may go down too, but we take them with us, and have a much brighter future moving forward too. Crosby and Malkin aren't going to live forever. They had their time and now they're done. We definitely took some wind out of their sails over the years, despite not tanking for generational talent, as they repeatedly did.

Last time we beat the Pens in regulation was April 2022 !

As poor as that sounds, we've beaten them in a shootout and in overtime since then, however. Also, I've posted our record against them in their building numerous times. It is quite good. Only in recent years when we've been truly awful have they really been beating us consistently. It's a good rivalry because crybaby Crosby always got his stats, but that didn't necessarily mean his team won, that's for damn sure. We won our fair share.
