Walker would've become a free agent so we had to trade him or sign him which we weren't going to do. So getting something for him as opposed to keeping him and getting nothing was our choices.
Yes I get that, but for some reason Laughton couldn't be dealt even when having a good year, other GMs aren't stupid. But hey, he's now scored 100 goals in 12 1/2 years so there's that milestone! :L

I hope that wasn't the justification for keeping Laughton last year. It's the half in, half out, stuff that kills you. Either go for the playoffs and keep the better player in Walker too, or deal both of them. Unless they value Laughton's intangibles for the rebuild higher than whatever they were offered to move him.

That save Kolosov made with a little over 3 minutes left is what made that game, the full extension with that glove was a thing of beauty. Also shout out to Talbot, dude made some incredible saves too.

I don't watch Sportscenter anymore, but if he catches that thing it's on all the highlight reels. Great save regardless obviously, just not the pretty highlight for the reels.

Comparing Walker and Laughton situations is apples and oranges. We had a lot of defenseman to take Walkers place and we had no centers at all to take the place of Laughton especially since he was going crazy with TK on the PK.

Laughton home grown player, team leader, assistant captain, excellent relationship with all the players coaches and management, Apples
Walker played half a season for the Flyers. Oranges

Here it is one more time for the folks in the back who didn't pay attention last time. I don't dislike Laughton, or Coots, Or Risto. All of these guys have peaked! There isn't much more if any upside to any of these guys. They've been great and I've had fun rooting for them. However, we are in a full rebuild youth movement where I say were at least 2 solid years from a serious run and compete. These folks aren't going to be here in that time, except maybe Coots. They should be on the first thing moving if it's a good deal. This is MY opinion, you don't have to agree with it. But it is a reality, loved Simmonds when he was here and was sad when he left, another great leader and team loved guy, but it happened. Got to keep shedding the pieces.

I hope the Flyers are one of those teams. Exactly the type of move to make with the extra picks and their current needs. Bit of a risk with a pretty significant contract, 7.1M with 6 years left, but he's 24 and scored 30 goals a couple years ago. Big. Can skate. Dial those digits Danny. Get him on a team with some solid wingers and he could really flourish.

Center depth chart for the next few years starts to look a lot better if it's Cozens, Luchanko, and Couturier.

Yea the only hang up I see in that scenario is the contract. Don't imagine that Buffalo would eat any unless we gave them a sweet deal, maybe a 1st, and Farabee. Or some other kind of pick.

O.K., O.K. Crispy and eaglesnut, take a chill pill. You are both entitled to your opinions but chill on the name-calling. I did this with Maverick and lasgop and I am doing it with you two.

We are all fired-up about the slow progress the Flyers are making to get back to the Cup level of competition and to finally bury the ghosts of WTFC and his lackeys that have run this franchise into a deep shithole for a very long time. So we are all chompin' at the bit to get things better, quicker.

So, just chill and onward we go!!

I agree with this 100% and he fits your description on how to win a cup as he was the 7th overall pick.

I think at this point in the team's progress, it would do more harm than good to trade Laughton especially for what we would get in return would probably be less beneficial to the Flyers in the long run than would be good. I thought I would never have stated this but maybe even trading Risto at this point may be more harm than good.

The reason I have stated that about Risto is he is playing better now than ever and maybe it is the overall team chemistry affect and Tortorella's system and mentality he has brought and developed with this team that has got everyone on-board.

I think this article is more Sports Writer wet dreams than anything the Flyers might be considering.

With the way we are playing If the season ended today we are in the playoffs and would have a decent shot at upsetting a high seed in the first round.

Okay now on to a more important topic. Where does everyone stand on our current goalie situation?
For me its another one of those to early to tell scenarios. Both Russians have improved tremendously since game 1, more so Kolosov than Fedotov, not by leaps and bounds but just overall.
Errsson still remains to be seen as he has had limited playing time around him. I would assume we are going to get a trio of net minders this season to see if there's a true and solid number 1. This is going to be a huge key to our future because if none of these guys pan out were going to have to wheel and deal for good goalie to become our foundation. Still missing at least 4 solid pieces IMO, A number 1 goalie, A true Center, another puck mover/ sniper and another solid Dman.
