Not a bad effort last night, but we still can't defend. Our Russian goalies are gonna continue to get absolutely bombarded with shots against and give up piles of goals. Why play in front of Ersson, but not Fedotov or Kolosov!?

Anyway, it continues to be a treacherous schedule this week and we will just have to take our lumps.

This kid had a great camp and preseason.

If he performs well he we may be seeing him a lot when Torts wants to sit someone. If that is contractually possible.

I don't know how plugged in DiMarco is these days, he's mostly just been fishing for clicks over the years. But if they really can generate a good return with Risto that'd be great. Would free up some space but I think they'd have to go free agent shopping for at least 1 dman that has some experience at that point. There are a couple UFA/RFA coming up this offseason and an offer sheet actually worked last summer so maybe that's a real option.

Chychrun
Lindgren
Dobson
Bouchard
Miller
Byram

All UFA or RFA. Of course some will re-sign before actually hitting free agency, but maybe they can scoop one of those guys and keep reshaping the defense.

Still think Laughton would've made more sense to move last trade deadline, but who knows. I don't think he's helping his value at the moment though.

I personally feel with the way Risto is playing he will bring us back a good haul as he looks rejuvenated. We still need a solid number one defenseman and im not sure if we will be able to get one via a trade of Risto and Laughton. Im not the biggest fan of Drysdale. I dont think we can carry three very small defenseman with Andrae and York on the team as well. We may be able to get a top dman back if add Drysdale to a package next summer. Just my opinion.

At the time of the deadline we had like a 90% chance to make the playoffs so i believe that's why we kept Laughton last year. Im not sure that will be the case this year.

Why is this news? A 19 year old player being scratched is common place. Just sayin.

They have the 7th worst goals per game and they’re scratching the guy with the 2nd most points on the team.

It’s fine, development and whatever Torts says. But it’s not common practice and will always be news.

Honestly I find it a little comforting. But it sends a message that wins right now are not important.

Great game tonight. Not much offense, obviously, but we just stole one from Tampa late. Clutch, backhand roof job by Tippett ties it near the end of regulation and then both Tippett and Konecny beat Vasilevskiy's glove in the shootout to win it easily. Fedotov managed to stop both attempts against him. He rebounds from what was probably a bad error on the Kucherov wraparound much earlier in the game. Risto is arguably our best defenseman right now. He is making plays all over the ice and being physical.

It will go down as a 2-1 shootout win and surprising 2-0 in the shootout. I'm not sure why Cooper sent out Goncalves and Hedman as shooters, but we'll take it. Maybe Kucherov!? Guentzel? Hagel!? Cirelli!? Paul!? Lol

Much better defense played tonight and I thought we went toe to toe with Tampa in virtually every aspect of the game. Our power play continues to look terrible. Get Michkov back in there and work on it.

The narrative was about to be Vasilevskiy is just better than Fedotov, but that was shockingly flipped late in the game and especially the shootout.

Again, I'm not saying Fedotov outdueled Vasilevskiy tonight. He did get the better of him in the shootout, but I also think he faced some less dangerous shooters. I just feel that we finally played some pretty decent defense in front of the big, Russian goalie. He really didn't have a lot of tough chances against him. Props to the entire team for that. I definitely fault him on the Kucherov wraparound, but that was the only goal he gave up and Kucherov may be the best player in the world...Lol

Pretty amazing Tippett scores on the backhand from that angle. They definitely played with more energy and as Las likes to say, they kept their feet moving. Risto is definitely playing with an edge right now. Fedotov looked a little shacky at times, but his positioning looked much better last night. You can really see his size in the SO as there was little net to shoot at. It looked like both guys tried to go 5 hole.

Now that's how to play hockey!!!! Move your dam feet and there are a lot more wins coming!!

Tippetts backhand was a thing of beauty!!

TK just keeps rolling along!!

Big man in net in a shootout looks real good! Maybe we start a trend of a having a giant goalie for shootouts only.

Drysdale and Sanheim with 26 and 28 minutes on ice is monstrous ice time.
