Ellis needs to retire.
Yeah, but why in the hell would he? Pretty sure he forfeits a bunch of money if he does so. I just think it's pretty fucked up that a guy signs an 8 year, $50 million deal with us and then plays 4 games lifetime for the Flyers. How in the fuck was he ever medically cleared to even be traded!?! And even if he was, how could he sustain such horrific back, hip and core injuries within 4 Nhl games that he could no longer play hockey at only age 31!? It just doesn't add up, for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Preds already knew he was done, that's all I'm saying.

Technically, Ryan Ellis was only 30 the last time he suited up for us. So, I'm expected to believe that he sustained career-ending injuries in 4 games with us after playing 562 Nhl games with Nashville? Lol I just can't buy it.

But yeah, the guy is getting paid $50 million to not play hockey for us. I don't expect him to just give up any of that money anytime soon, regardless of whether or not he can actually play.

Bruins coming to Philly tomorrow. Maybe another win like they did in Boston.

It's situations like this why there should be no cap.

He resigns and the Flyers sign him as an overpriced long term scout scout. It looks like his contract has 2 years left after this year. Sign him as a scout for 10 years at $1.000.000 year. Let him watch NCAA games from his home. If that looks too shady, sign him as an executive assistant to the highest ranking person in the organization. Think outside of the box to get ride of this silly cap hit.

Put him on the Australian Rules Football strength and conditioning staff.

If the team looks good and ready to compete for a Cup entering the '26-'27 season, I'm sure they'll find a way to not have Risto and Ellis still on the roster, because that's when still having them could theoretically really have us at a disadvantage. It doesn't matter so much now because we're still holding so much garbage in the form of retained, buyouts and buried contracts and we're not expected to really compete yet anyway.

We have another goalie prospect that perhaps should be called-up.

Not sure this is an easy call up, another Russian who would probably have to jump through hoops just to get here, then it becomes a question of how much a basket case he is. Winning in the KHL isn't the same as winning in the NHL, unfortunately.

Zavragin's numbers are comparable to Shesterkin's KHL numbers.
We have a few years to see this play out.

If Michkov and Zavgravin prove to be the real deal, shouldn't hurt to have them recruit other skilled Russian players.

The ol' Detroit Red Wings of the mid 90s.
That would be great if that happened but after seeing Fedetov play after hearing great things about him i am skeptical.
