Him, Delauris, and that idiot Johansen, open up a lot of doors for sure.
Deslauriers plays 6 minutes a night he is certainly not blocking anyone. Makes only $1.7 million.

Now if you wanted to shed some contract money Noah Cates makes $2.675 million this year.

They have the same exact stats 0 goals 1 assist and Deslauriers has a better plus/minus.

Is there room for growth with Cates? If not he can go to, he definitely regressed last year from the year before.

We should be 5th most in Cups and the 5th best currently.

If you look at our cap breakdown for this season and the next several, the window for 100% efficiency and success doesn't really open until '26-'27. I'll be shocked if Risto remains with us for the last year of his contract, which is that season, because everything else opens up for us.

For now, we're carrying a lot of garbage. Petersen, Hayes, Atkinson and DeAngelo are still all on the books for about $11.5 million altogether. Hayes and Atkinson remain on the books next season for about half of that amount. As stated above, the following season, everything opens up except Risto/Ellis. Risto will be moved and Ellis can at least still go on LTIR.

An ugly win is still a win, but I don't think we can do this 40 more times and make the playoffs. The defense is bending and not breaking, which is nice. However, we're getting pinned back in our own zone routinely. That really saps everyone's energy and makes it difficult on our goalie/defense. Ersson and Binnington both played well. I believe we were very fortunate to not give up 2-3 goals. Kyrou and Schenn both probably should've scored, but the bounces went our way in this one. That said, it was a clutch goal late by Brink to avoid OT and get the two points in regulation.

A guy like Seeler is a real difference-maker on this squad. He will do absolutely anything to get the W and the dude clearly charges up the entire bench with his passion and his fearless blocks, hits or occasional fights. His mindset is contagious and we've really needed some of that lately.

Ellis needs to retire.

He's already 25and this is his 4th season. He is what he is a 4th liner and will give us 25-30 points a year and play solid defensively.

Its gonna help his play tremendously if the team starts buying into defense first mode, however it can also be hurtful as we saw with the Sanhiem skate deflection but more importantly the blocked shots is going up too with Seeler back. I do not however want to see players like Seeler left hurting at the end of the season, we definitely still need improvement moving the puck out of our defensive end better.
