not saying i wouldnt but

College
2014-059 touches
2015-400+ touches
2016-about 300

pro
2017-297 touches
2018-326 touches
2019-400 + touches
lot of wear no them tires
A lot of that though is receptions. Not pounding into a wall of defenders.
he avgs about 208 carries a year. Those touches you are talking is a way different in wear & tear than say a Larry Johnson 400+ touches

Yeah true but he is still only going to be 24. A 4 year deal is fine in my book. 5 or 6 is a little too long for a RB unless they are just a freak of nature. Zeke could be a freak so no problem with that signing either.

you have to give him a 4 year deal, and give yourself an out. Hes been remarkably durable.......its just a concern, like it is with all RB's. Also coupled with like i just said to schmoopy, that he NEVER comes out, his in on EVERY snap, most rb's arent........He's remarkable, really.

I agree & dont dismiss what you are pointing out.

With that said. I still truly believe he has a great chance to break Jerry Rice's All Purpose yards record. I believe he will have a long career. Be high quality for about 12 years.

Now as you will point out at RB. Injuries can derail anybody, so yes as you are signing him to these lucrative offers. the 1st two years are the only ones that should be hurting you if he gets injured. Most RB contracts (excluding the Gurley one) are kind of set up that way. Even guaranteed money are gonna be in roster bonuses & the like. So they really arent guaranteed if the player gets cut.

You see the crazy good RBs make it to the ten year mark, then I just added a couple quality years (not elite) to that.
Came up with 12 years :)

then if he does what McCoy, Sproles & those types do. They can still play for a few more years as a journeyman.
I seriously think he will be a threat to Rice's record.

If he wears down he can be a nice slot WR...already plays that position at times anyway lol

So was Clowney supposed to be a generational type of player? I honestly can't remember, I know he was an unanimous #1/great player. That's the only one I can think of recently but that was bc of coming out of HS being so great then having a great college career...
Clowney had as much hype I ever seen for a defensive player coming out the draft, most of it was deserved. Haven’t payed too much attention to his NFL career, has he been that much of a disappointment?

For the hype, I think he has been a disappointment but he's made 3 pro bowls, no all-pros in 5 years as a starter. Never a double digit sack season though.

49ers re-signed RB Matt Breida to a one-year, $3.259 million contract.
There has been chatter that Breida's 53-man roster spot may not be secure, but his second-round tender is an obviously power symbol that is not the case. Breida was lightly used down the stretch last season, and the 49ers have one of the league's most crowded backfields, but the 25-year-old has proven versatile and tough. He is also a capable chain mover. If Breida ends up an odd man out, a trade would be much more likely than his release.

I hear Jacksonville is looking to trade Fournette.

This coming one day after Fournette was pitching for Newton to go to the Jags.

12 yrs? Really?...so you're expecting him to complete his 2nd contract.

All RBs contracts will look very much like Gurley's...maybe the signing bonus will be the variable but all will have roster bonuses.
