Broncos Offseason .. For The Sake Of Conversation, Affordable Vet QBs

Just for the sake of conversation - cap implications be damned - let's take a look at some of the affordable free agent QBs ..

Tampa Bay had some good success this year with Baker Mayfield .. They certainly exceeded a lot of people's expectations, as did Mayfield .... It also happed years ago with some QB named Brees and a guy named Sean Payton ...

Jared Goff has been instrumental in Detroit's success, yet he was basically a throw-in when The Rams sent first round picks to Detroit for Stafford

Are there any possibilities here ??

1) Sam Darnold

- 2023 stats: 297 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 1 INT, 60.9% completion, 85.1 passer rating, 49.6 QBR, 1 start

2) Carson Wentz

- 2023 stats: 163 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 1 INT, 70.8% completion, 99.8 passer rating, 90.4 QBR, 1 start

3) Jameis Winston

- 2023 stats: 264 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 3 INTs, 53.2% completion, 57.4 passer rating, 35.7 QBR, 0 starts

4) Ryan Tannehill

- 2023 stats: 1,616 passing yards, 4 passing TDs, 7 INTs, 64.8% completion, 78.5 passer rating, 35.1 QBR, 8 starts

5) Marcus Mariota

- 2023 stats: 164 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 65.2% completion, 82.5 passer rating, 59.7 QBR, 0 starts

6) Andrew Luck

- Stranger things have happened ... Geico has brought The Caveman back, so why not ?


I'm listening if it's Darnold or Wentz ... Tannehill makes me think, too, but as a year bridge ...then draft a QB and let 'em compete

I would have some interest in Winston or Tannehill as stop gaps if it came to it.

We have a comparable QB to all listed above on our roster. Stidham, so no none of those guys move the needle for me and neither does Stidham.

I don't know how you do it in Arkansas, but if you can't do it with your bare hands - what's the point?

Why ? suck even if you draft a QB! that way you get him a decent WR he can grow on . I would like to do what Greenbay did sit them a year our better get them as good as they will get then sink or swim .

Drew lock was drafted like Drew Brees but we forgot that he took 5 years to developed.. now I here he is now worth a shot looking at . Elway knew he was a developmental QB.. Yes he look spotty good with a 49er QB coach then looked crappy ...Denver needs to stop killing young QBs .

I am still seeing what we are doing is getting a better contract out of Wilson ..time will tell .

I will say this we need to change how we develop players . safe to say.

You would want them to sign them then trade one of them to us they inherit our deal with Wilson with us paying some money to Wilson, not all of it just a amount that they get what the want and we get what we want

They would end up with Wilson my guess for $25 Million . We would still pay for a good amount of his contract .

but that would leave 25 million for us to sign a bridge as you called it

I don't think our cap situation would allow for either of those two as they will both command pretty decent QB money. I also bet they both end up back on their current teams.
