Flames in Nashville tonight, do they need another Butler?

I don't know much about Chris Butler Dash. With Cowen, Karlsson and Methot all on the shelf right now, the Sens could use someone on D. Is Butler awful or can he actually play more than 5 minutes without tripping over the blueline?

He's serviceable, but he's pretty soft (in fact, his nickname is Butlersoft). If I were Bryan Murray, I'd see if I could pry Kris Russell from the Blues, he's a great skater and can QB the PP.

I'd be pretty excited to get Russell. His skating and puck moving ability would fit in perfectly with MacLean's style of play. The Sens D, with the exception of Karlsson, looks like it will be huge next year too, so I think there'd be room for another small guy back there.

It gets more interesting. Karlsson and Methot were great together but the Sens could also roll out:

Cowen - Karlsson
Methot - Russell

Cowen and Karlsson were together for a handful of games last year ans were very good.

The Methot - Russell pairing was just awesome. Russel was mobile and attacked a lot and Methot hung back and held up anyone who got around Russell.

So many times you'd see Methot seperate someone from the puck and Russell would swoop in and start a breakout. Very sharp together.

If he had signed in Buffalo they could have put out a D pairing where both guys are 6'8" plus a 6'8" winger.

Just for fun they'd have to put Tyler Ennis and Nathan Gerbe out as the other two.
