He was with the Isles last year. I thought he was done then. I'm surprised anothe team wants him. Good for him.

Let's hope his signing goes as well for Boston as the Gomez signing has gone for San Jose.

Man, when Corey Potter is taking your place in the lineup, that's not good. Ryan Whitney has become the Roger Dorn of hockey.

Islanders don't play for 3 days & the damn coach tells the players practice is OPTIONAL??

Changes better be coming soon Garth!!:mad2:

Could it be one of the mandatory days off that the new CBA includes?

I would guess there would be nothing wrong with the coach saying "hey, I'm going to be at the rink if anyone feels like skating, but you don't have to show up."

All I know is I love Kovy's response when he showed up for the Devils optional skate. It was something along the lines of what else was I going to do? The kids are in school and I was bored.

He can't keep up anymore and is taking bad penalties - I was going to suggest that this could be his last season, but he's signed for next season as well (35+ contract) with a cap hit of 2.25 shmill.

Jackets have been doing it that way, sans coach. Typically 12-14 show up. Prospal and Umberger are running the practices.

Whitney was frustrated Tuesday morning about the news he would sit out tonight's contest.

"I'm very frustrated, I want to play," Whitney said. "We got outshot 40-14 and I'm not playing so I think that kind of shows where their thoughts on me are."

Another veteran dman upset with how the Oilers are treating him? Geez, I think I've seen this movie before.

I find it amusing as well. I think the fact that the franchise has been completely inept for the past several years makes it even funnier.

Am I the only one that loves Dash's hatred of all things Edmonton?

 - To be fair, they do have some of the best/most dedicated fans in hockey. It's the entitlement factor (more from Oilers bloggers and media types) that I can't stomach. Yeah, you had a great team in the 80's, that's over a generation ago.

Also, can we wait until the Oilers actually make the playoffs before we say this current Oilers team is going to be a great team for years to come? Admittedly, I'm biased, but I still see a ton of holes on that roster.

Ha ha, the Oilers. Watching Dash bash them is like watching a gym teacher tell at the uncoordinated Jewish kid for striking out in kickball... again.

Possibly, but the Islanders have lost 5 straight. They need all the practice they can get.
