No it isn't. That is my point. It seems really silly to say let's be first in baseball when you aren't even half way to being the best in the AL.

and my point is that you build a team thru prospects and Free agents over a period of years. you don't wait for the prospects to develop and then make moves. you make it a blended evolution designed to reach the final design over a period of time

Marte was -9 defensive runs saved in CF last year, he was good in LF, CF not so much

Why would we want Santana to be mediocre at lots of positions? At least give the guy a chance in CF, he's stated its where he feels best

Correct me if I am wrong but he was not that impressive at 1b either.

I have no problem finding Santana a single position but at the same time I also support signing or trading for a player who is better than anyone we have on the roster. even the Rangers have said that they would rather have him as their super-utility player ready to step in at any of 6 or 7 positions as needed

Don’t even think about Kris Bryant to the Rangers; what missing on Nick Castellanos, Josh Donaldson meant for Texas

Looks like IKF has added some muscle and strength.
Hopefully he can be a big contributor as our utility guy if we’re rolling Santana out at CF.
Maybe let Frazier play 1B vs lefties and IKF at 3B.
Maybe start 15 games at SS
Might be able to get 350 ABs and show he can be a part of the team as a starter going into 2021

I've always been an IKF fan, if he's truly added some power, or pop, then that's awesome, I'd love for him to be the utility guy

This line of thinking I'm in favor of, especially if they also use Solak in a bit of a utility role as well, these 2 can cover all the spots on the field

The problem is there's no one I think is worth the price it would cost to get them, I don't mind paying a guy, I just don't want to give up prospects for the privilege of then paying them lots of money

I'm also okay with taking a flier on Domingo Santana and letting him trying out 1B against LHPs and maybe become the DH next year, guy can hit but is pretty awful in the field

IKF was unreal his rookie year with the bat and glove. I am not sure the catcher thing wore him down some.

Not good at 1B or 3B. To me he was better up the middle. Maybe more work prior to season could change my mind.

Re Marte. Did not see it as muck of an upgrade. Really looking now for cornerstone pieces vs good complimentary player additions

According to Grant’s ‘Evan help us’ thing JD’s contract ends after the 2021 season so he’d better show some progress soon enough. That’s a lot of pressure on one more offseason.

Hosmer put up .3 offensive WAR last year with a .265/.310/.425 .735 line with 22 homeruns and 99 RBI
I could see Guzman putting up a
.255/.320/.420 .750 with 20 Hrs & 70 RBI
He also has a ton of potential and maybe working out with Nelson Cruz and picking his brain this offseason will lead to a
.265/.345/.455 .800 line w/ 25 hrs 85 RBI

it should be an exciting year watching Guzman potentially blossom into a 2019’ish Paul Goldschmidt
