Series Thread: Rangers Host Dodgers For Three Games July 21-23

Great rebound yesterday against LA. Obviously losing that series stings, but being 7-2 since the break is better than any of us expected. Definitely concerned about Eovaldi's velo and the back end of the starting rotation. It is nice to see that Burke-Smith-Chapman make a fantastic 1-2-3 punch out of the pen. I still think we have a really good opportunity to make a deep run come October with the right moves. It's like @saddles said; we likely win the LAD series with a better bullpen. Still think trading for two relievers that are as good as Smith and Chapman is the main and most important thing--shut you down type of guys.
Throw in another SP - at least a #3 type.
A good hitter would help, too. Someone that has a high batting average and thrives with RISP.
Doesn't have to have overwhelming power.

It's nice if your starters make it to the 6th inning and you have a strong bullpen that shutdown the other team from the 6th inning and on. We are getting close to there.

How ironic would it be if, after acquiring a couple more really good relievers to pair with Smith, Chapman and Burke, it was the bullpen that actually elevated this team on a deep playoff run?

I'd be much more tempted by a trade for Bednar than for Ohtani.
Wonder what a realistic trade for Bednar would be? Would it take something like Leiter and Foscue?

At this point I'd be willing to trade Leiter and Foscue for an elite RP like Bednar.
And trading for him wouldn't change my desire to trade for a second reliever.

if they did this trade i'd still be interested in either Alex Lange or Kyle Finnegan

Finnegan would interest me at the right price. But Lange has an ERA right around 4 and his career ERA isn't much better so not sure he's any better than some of the guys we'd be looking to replace.

Tavernas is better than Saggese from what I have seen

Saggese has an OPS 190 points higher in AA than Taveras did at the same level. There is less than a half a year difference in their ages at that level.

Don’t know but he’s appeared in 41 games, finished 28 of them, has 17 saves and only allowed 25 hits in 40+ innings which sounds good to me

The Tigers also have Tyler Holden who looks good to me

Eye test. Tavernas looks more athletic has more speed and hits it harder. Stats don’t always tell the full picture
