I agreeThe problem is there's no one I think is worth the price it would cost to get them, I don't mind paying a guy, I just don't want to give up prospects for the privilege of then paying them lots of money
I agree but JD and the owners were never seriously in on Rendon. It was all fluff to keep the fans thinking they were serious about improving the teamThat is a good point, but you weren't making it as a part of this conversation until now. Lol
You seemed to have lapsed into a previous conversation.
To your point though, I agree. That is why we should have picked up Rendon a couple of months ago.

It is hard to know if they were just too cheap or if he is just not good at negotiating. Either way it was a huge blunder.I agree but JD and the owners were never seriously in on Rendon. It was all fluff to keep the fans thinking they were serious about improving the team
Forgot Odor.rendon and JD is old news and happy trails.
I'd say intentionally cheap. Offering 6 years when every other team was going 7 was a deal killerIt is hard to know if they were just too cheap or if he is just not good at negotiating. Either way it was a huge blunder.
Did not the Angels only make an offer of 7 guaranteed in the offseason? It was reported by national media that the Rangers had the second best offer and taking into account the cost of living state income tax the best offer with their option at 7 years.I'd say intentionally cheap. I believe the AAV offered by both was identical the difference was the number of years. I also believe Rendon made it clear that the number of years was the big factor in his decisionDid not the Angels only make an offer of 7 guaranteed in the offseason? Not 100 % sure but what I remember off top of my head
I think he is worth the playing time. We are not winning anything this year so it is a good time to look at him as well as some young pitchers.
Hopefully Guzman takes a step forward
From what I have always heard, the union has hoodwinked the players into ignoring cost of living in different areas and state income tax. They have convinced them that the union itself, is more important than individual finances.Did not the Angels only make an offer of 7 guaranteed in the offseason? I would love for it to click with him the way it did for Cruz after we released him and signed him again.
Hopefully Guzman takes a step forward
I guess I should say.
Why didn’t they get it done
Instead of why didn’t they “try”
Rendons contract isn’t even that bad
It takes him to 36 years old
Not 40 years old
If they truly wanted to get Rendon their offer should have matched or exceeded the Angels offer.. not be 1 year and 40 million short. That’s not trying.. that’s just trying to appease the fan base
“Hey we tried.. but at the end of the day he wanted to be an Angel”
Well yeah I bet he did want the bigger contract..
If they truly wanted Castellanos they could have had him
If they truly wanted Starling Marte they could have had him
If they truly wanted Josh Donaldson they could have got him as well
