Scherzer acted like that was a possibility when I heard him the other day. He talked as if a variety of roles were being considered.

Really hard to believe that Scherzer would be okay not being able to start a game. Not saying that he wouldn't be okay coming out of the pen but his mental makeup would just be one of I want to get back out there and start one of these playoff games.

Yeah, I would have thought that too, but he seemed to be fine with whatever role he was needed in. I kind of think the Rangers want him to start and that was the reason he didn't get activated for the ALDS. I think he was probably ready for short outings, but not starting. With this simulated game he is pitching today, that should get him ready to go 5 innings in his first start.

He probably going to be on limited pitch count since he hasn’t pitched in almost a month. That’s why I mentioned the bullpen.
