Before JD gets in a big hurry to spend big on FA's, wait and see if Gallo can return to his old ways of producing HR and RBI's. Guzman had started to show signs of improving at seasons end. Combine that with Huff and Trevino's production and we might have something. Mediocre FA's are not the answer. Be patient in 2021 and define what we have or do not have and then spend.

We still need pitching at some point but that too may be in-house. Getting in a hurry will be a mistake. Proof is in the pudding at 2nd base.

Deep into 2021 we should have a clear picture of our needs and that is the time to invest in quality players. imo.
I agree. From what I understand next year's crop of free agents may be the best ever. That may be the time to spend big, even if it may be a year before we are ready to be serious contenders.

The only way I would spend this year would be for a position that we aren't confident in as far as having a good prospect ready to compete there. For example, if a good 1B or OF falls through the cracks and needs to sign a one year deal then I am fine with that kind of acquisition. That may or may not present itself though.

I still would be in favor of trading Lynn and dumping Lyles in order to give our young pitchers a chance to start. Guys like Allard, Burke, Cody, Hearn, Phillips, and Benjamin should be ready to compete for 4 spots in the rotation. Who knows about Palumbo at this point.

I believe 2021 should be allocated to patients, evaluation and player development. In my honest opinion, we have some serious pitching candidates and serious position players in house. Possible power bats as well in Huff Trevino and hopefully Gallo. Let 2021 play out and spend where the need is.

Personally I don't think Gallo is ever going to be more than what he is.
I agree but since money is tight this next rear, was taking the conservative approach.

It is very hard to be optimistic while Odor and Elvis are the core of the team. CF is a place of optimism though. Catcher too. Bullpen as well. At this point I would make this a development year. We have a few interesting IF prospects. Let Guzman play but 2022 that might be a spot we fill via FA. Solak is a head scratcher, probably best case scenario is 2B. A DH needs to be a beast

He is amazing at 3B which is why I hate to see him moved around. We messed him up when we put him at catcher which I admire at how well he did at that position. If Jung is that good and can only play 3B then IKF needs to be our 2B. He is just too good with the glove.

The guy runs like a deer and has a great arm. If he can just stay healthy which concerns me and hit 250 as he will hit his HRs then I am okay with that.

Recent article in Athletic really heaping praise on Seise who they think has total package and White a recent pick. With low A ball possibly be gone thus loading up high A, potential was for Seise to make it to Frisco at the frontside. Guess just speculation

don't see the owners or JD eating 8M by dumping Lyles i agree with trading Lynn and maybe Gibson (have to eat at least half of the 17M we owe him) and see if a team would take Lyles if we eat half of his salary
