No More "Bullpen Failure"
I agree. From what I understand next year's crop of free agents may be the best ever. That may be the time to spend big, even if it may be a year before we are ready to be serious contenders. Before JD gets in a big hurry to spend big on FA's, wait and see if Gallo can return to his old ways of producing HR and RBI's. Guzman had started to show signs of improving at seasons end. Combine that with Huff and Trevino's production and we might have something. Mediocre FA's are not the answer. Be patient in 2021 and define what we have or do not have and then spend.
We still need pitching at some point but that too may be in-house. Getting in a hurry will be a mistake. Proof is in the pudding at 2nd base.
Deep into 2021 we should have a clear picture of our needs and that is the time to invest in quality players. imo.
The only way I would spend this year would be for a position that we aren't confident in as far as having a good prospect ready to compete there. For example, if a good 1B or OF falls through the cracks and needs to sign a one year deal then I am fine with that kind of acquisition. That may or may not present itself though.
