Allen vs. Pearland at JerryWorld tonight set the new record of attendance for the title game. Commentators were talking about how many bowl games this year won't have close to that in attendance, LOL......

That tells me how many Texas citizens live vicariously through the lives of 17 year olds.

Probably cheap tickets to see Jerry World had a lot to do with it but still impressive and high school football deserves more recognition.

Impressive, I'm sure it meant a lot to the kids. Just never really could get in to HS football myself.

Yeah it does, b/c they get to share a locker with a Cowboy player and it's just an awesome experience to be able to say you played at that bad ass stadium in front of 54K + people.

Not sure what Nebraska's Class A championship attendance is, but I feel pretty comfortable in saying it's less than 8,000.

I'm sure a quite a bit of them will go FBS and probably BCS, so it probably won't be the last time for them. But for the rest, they'll probably never play in front of 50k+ again, so I'm sure it's an experience that will stick with 'em. I remember playing football in the 7th or 8th grade, and I MIGHT'VE played in front of about 3 or 4k...once. :ohwell:

Having Allen in it makes a difference - local Dallas area team. They have the worlds largest marching band with 750 kids. The idiot from Jokelahoma is just jelly.

Not really sure why. These players from Texas are the only reason why OU can field a football team. Dude should show more respect.....

Why can't Texas field a football team then? That's the real question.

Not sure why the hatred on intrest in high school football. I cover it as part of my job, never even remotely wanted to cover it but it comes with the territory of trying to become a journalist. It is a lot of fun and you get to see some great talent. That one game is more than Louisiana had with it's 9 state championships. Louisiana should be embarassed for having 9 titles, a state this size at most should be at 5.

That tells me how many Texas citizens live vicariously through the lives of 17 year olds.

Seems to suggest that a fan attending a sporting event is living vicariously through the players in the game. I don't think that's true.
