I'd take our DL, LBs, and secondary over what the Texans have at the corresponding positions. So, why do analysts believe the Texans have the best overall D in the league??

If you want to go for position by position breakdown? IDK.... Our DL is great but haven't been playing at the level we know they're capable of IMHO. I'm talking about that playoff intensity level led by Justin Smith. I'm not necessarily angry that its not happening cause I wouldn't want them to burn out by playoff time.

I do believe the Texans create more pressure to get to the QB, perhaps teams haven't started adjusting properly vs Houston? plus Houston's defense hasn't been tested much outside of Denver on the road.

I won't argue that right now their D is playing top IMO, but I feel talent wise we are better. Hey it comes to playoff time, that's when it really matters.

Maybe SOS.

49ers have a strong SOS. NFC West is looking very good offensively. They have NFC North, AFC East, Giants, and Saints. IDK the Texans schedule, but is it as strong as 49ers? I know the AFC South is not.

JJ Watt, when one player generates that kind of love affair in the media. It just spills over to the rest of the team. My opinion on why the analysts are all on the Texans bandwagon now.

Our run D is no as good as yours, but it's like asking if you want a ruby or an emerald.

Not taking anything away from the Texans, but I'm taking our defense overall. Houston does have the current DPOY, though.

Similar teams. I would give our Defense the edge, but their Offensive line is very under rated. Dennison has done a great job with their zone blocking scheme.

Watt and Joseph are the only two guys I would consider an upgrade. The way T Brown is playing might change that though.

I think we have the better Defense but Texans have a better O so team wise its a wash. Would be a damn good Super Bowl if both teams make it IMO

I guess his pro bowl talk is paying off for him.

I might take Cushing. Watt is an absolute beats, though. He's the front runner for MVP right now and it's barely his 2nd season.

Take Cushing over who? Maybe Brooks but its an easy win for Bowman, Willis, and Aldon

I think the Texans are pretty freaking good. Unfortunately, it's week four. By the playoffs, they'll have backups all over the place on Offense, and likely miss the postseason.

I hope that's not the case. Right now, they're the class of the AFC, and I'd rather not see another Steelers/Patriots superbowl. They've gotten really old lately.

MIKE = Patrick Willis > Brian Cushing
TED = Novarro Bowman > Bradie James
ROLB = Aldon Smith > Connor Barwin
LOLB = Ahmad Brooks > Brooks Reed
CB#1 = Carlos Rogers > Jonathan Joseph
CB#2 = Tarell Brown > Kareem Jackson
CB#3 = Chris Culliver > Alan Ball
SS = Donte Whitner < Danieal Manning

I consider myself a grounded 49er fan, but his isn't even close.
Yes, that's 12 players

I would go CB#1 =Carlos Rogers < Jonathan Joseph but everything else I would agree with.

Not me. The difference in the two defenses is that the Texans can rush the passer. The 49ers cannot. Give me a defense that pressures and harrasses the passer any day.

The individual comparisons may or may not be accurate but they are irrelevant anyway. Its how those players perform as a group. I give the edge to the Texans because of their ability to get to the passer.
