I don't take those rankings all that serious anyway as I am sure most of us do not. Even when we were ranked high those things can turn on a dime.

It wasn't the ranking which I found interesting. It was his take on the damage Houston has done to their franchise and how it might negatively effect them for the future.

PTI did some bantering on the subject today. It's an interesting idea. Don't know if it goes anywhere, but the game, especially pitching, is constantly evolving.

It seems to me one of the points is not just the number of pitches being thrown, but what type of pitch as well.

It seems to me that it is a little more serious then people here think. Greg Oden had it as well. Former first round pick and one of the biggest busts in sports history. Its not a given that people just "come back." In fact, MORE TIMES THEN NOT, people come back playing not at the same level they left.

So, then the argument shifts to this "Derek Holland isn't a football or basketball player." Exactly right. He's a pitcher. A machine that is driven through the use of momentum derived from the legs. The amount of pressure put on both of a pitchers knees during the action is crazy. His left knee is the motor. When a pitcher lifts and begins to separate his hands and drive towards home, its the knee/hip that is doing the driving. There is a lot of pressure on this knee, whether the surgery was serious or not. I've been researching the injury a little bit today. Its not a given that he's coming back the exact same as he left. I definitely dont understand why one would ASSUME he would. I understand if someone is like "I'm thinking derek holland is coming back." I get that. Its called optimism and its what fans do. But realistically, would you not want to prepare for him to not be back to the level we want him to be ESPECIALLY if we wanna win next year? I mean, I'll even make it an even probability. What if its 50/50 he comes back to normal. If we wanna win a ring next year, and he lands on the wrong side of that coin, then thats a big part of our rotation ruined because we didnt prepare for it. Its tough to win the playoffs without being prepared. I'm not saying to like put derek in the bullpen. But be prepared for him to be your 4 or your 5, that way its not a big deal to replace him. Get better guys who are no doubters in front of him

So be skeptical about Holland but you're all over the aiken kid that has the ucl of a 7th grader?

I would think we learned our lesson after ra dickey that didn't have one at all

Visit the season thread XXX posted on AJ Pierzinski's letter. Awesome !!! Thanks XXX

That was interesting. Looks like AJ is one of the people that has no problem dishing it out, but lets it get to him when they pick on him. How does a veteran let that continue anyways? It was funny nonetheless.

Caramel accident at a candy factory, really?

Anything that is not 0-22 is better. Whether it's blind luck or not I will take it!

That's the way to do it. I love seeing captain America ground out like that.
