Will say this about Luke Jackson
Very shaky at times in Atlanta but he sure did have a closers mentality

A very short memory

Evan Carter walked in his first AB and then flew out in his second AB.

Carter lines out against a lefty, Drew Poneranz, but he hit it 101.6 mph.

It appears the Rangers have decided to halt Emiliano Teodo 'svdevekioment as a starting pitcher. He is working out of the pen for Round Rock.

I think that is a big mistake. He haa not come close to showing that he could not develop as a starting pitcher. He has not been like Luke Jackson, Cole Winn, Dillon Tate, Owen White, or several other starting pitcher prospects who faded after hitting the upper levels. This seems even more premature than when they did this same thing with Neftali Feliz.

maybe halt is a bit harsh.
Perhaps suspended for this season as it looks like he will be brought up to close once he is able to go back to back
Next year is next year and a lot can happen between now and then

I think having A window with JDG is a factor too

Evan Carter led off the game with a swing-free plate appearance that began with two strikes and ended with four straight balls. Later, Carter had his best contact of the night against lefty Drew Pomeranz, driving a low fastball 101.6 MPH at 18 degrees into the waiting glove of CF Samad Taylor. Carter has 27 career balls in play against MLB lefties in the regular season and postseason. 101.6 is harder than all but one. That it was caught doesn't matter. That type of contact is essentially 50% outs and 50% doubles in the long run. Carter finished with a pop and strikeout against righties.

I will stick with "halt." I have never seen someone switched to relief at AAA when he was doing great as a starter prior to that, and then being moved back to the rotation a year later.

He should be working on his change and maybe a fourth putch at this point. Instead, he completely ignored the change last night.

I trust CY, but the news about Teodo is concerning.
CY has been patient with Leiter, whereas GMs before would have traded him.
If Teodo has all star closer potential, and he feels like that is the last piece for a championship run, then maybe that is his logic.
I’m sure he is listening to his scouts.

Yeah, another year from now would have been the appropriate time to consider something like this, but only if he would have disappointed as a starter during this season.

If for nothing else, then for starting depth this year.

It almost seems like CY is afraid Teodo will do so well that CY will have no reason to go after an expensive starting pitcher in free agency next offseason. Lol

Scherzer gave up 2 HRs in the 1st and left after 3 with discomfort in lower right lat.
