What is Bochy supposed to say about his relievers?

Besides his forte is the bullpen. Making lemonade out of lemons.
That's all he has so that is all he can say. The plan is telling though. Not saying he is responsible for the plan or the predicament.

How many home grown players are on the team today?
If you mean by home grown that they spent part of their development in our minor league system then half of them are as of right now.

or really going out on a limb Miller gets DFA'ed

He's your backup 1B so good luck getting rid of him, Huff is the only other guy on the 40 with much 1B experience...

Two of the four positions he plays are manned by guys who almost never get days off so that might not work out.

If Duran plays 105 of the remaining 120 games, I would imagine 90 of them will be in either LF or DH and 10 or so would be at 3B.

You can use DH as a semi-day off for Semien, Seager, Garcia and whoever else you want to have a less stressful day, you can get Duran 5 days a week if he continues to hit...

Thos is another guy who has looked great at times, but who has also been too inconsistent to bring up.

He reminds me of Tiant and/or Valenzuela with his motion...

Good luck with Semien and Seager DHing. Maybe coming back from an injury like Seager just did, but other than that it almost never happens. Semien has DHed once in the last 2 years combined.

Yeah well maybe it's time that happened so they're fresher for the stretch run when the games mean more...

Sometimes the old ways of riding your horses until they puke (and not getting the younguns more experience) aren't the best ways...

I believe we did exactly that to Heim last year and his offense fell off.

We agree on that.

FWIW. Bochy does seem to play most of his players minus Miller right now. But yeah might do some half days off with Marcus especially

All things considered, it's really hard to criticize a whole lot about how the offense has been handled. A few complaints here and there, but overall I'm satisfied.

I'm guessing our run differential is limiting save opportunities somewhat for both the bad and good...

Yeah last year was quite a jump for him in playing time and it wore him down. Knowing last year was a lost cause Huff should have gotten more of an opportunity to show that he needed to stay or needed to be playing in another zipcode this year...

Exactly.

Huff has had very sporadic chances in the big leagues. Not counting this last appearance up here where I think he got a total of 3 starts, Huff has basically played in 4 different months spread out from September of 2020 to September of 2022. He has had 3 satisfactory or better months when judged by his OPS.. Those were .755, .763 and 1.136. His one bad month was in June of 2022 when he only had 7 starts in 18 days.

There is no evidence whatsoever that if he ever got a chance to play 20 games a month or more that he would fail, and yet there are several who think he cannot perform. That one great OPS above comes from the month where he started the most often. It was 9 starts over 17 days, the only time his number of starts topped 50% of the days that were covered.

Zavala is back in a big way. 2 for 4 last night and a HR in his first at bat tonight.

Scott Lucas had this to say about him earlier today:

Aaron Zavala returned in style. His offensive profile is as strong as anyone in the system.

It would be a steep package but wonder what it would take to Alexis Díaz from the Reds
