As a lawyer, what are your thoughts on the Casey Anthony verdict? A result of good defense, poor prosecution, or a jury that didn't want to sentence anybody to the death penalty?

Everybody else feel free to weigh in if you'd like to also.

i was actually going to ask the same thing. good thread. rep.

tbh, shes a major ****, and i hope someone gets her once shes released. and i hope bad things happen to Caylee's father as well. What kinda pathetic excuse for a father doesnt check up on their child at least once a week? I know if/when i have children, if im separated from the mother, I'd be calling at least daily. And in what world is the logical response to your childs death to throw the body in a swamp and go party and get a tattoo saying something about a beautiful life? fuck that ****

/rant

but, i actually read an article last night about a story thats 100x worse than this case.

Oklahoma boy, 3, sold for sex by babysitter Jennifer Chapman in exchange for meth | Mail Online

i'll spare going off on another rant, but that shits fuckin horrible.

I'm going to plead ignorance on this case -- I've only read just a little about it and was unaware that a verdict had been rendered.

On the other hand, day three in Catalan....not a ton of American sports gear here, but three themes emerge:

NCAA: Duke
NBA: Kobe Bryant
MLB: Fucking doyers.....

I rocked the SF cap today...got no responses from anyone. Growled at a doyer hat wearing teen and he smiled at me completely unaware of the rivalry. They don't even know what a curveball is here, I bet.

But I'll bet that every third teenager has a Messi jersey on. He looks awesome when he surrounded by talent. Put him on his national team and dude looks lost. Guess he's not the greatest player ever.

But I'm just a bitter Real Madrid fan, so what do I know?

Even if she isn't a killer, then she is definitely a ****. Sfsportsfan summed it up pretty nicely here with all the major points. Her daughter was gone for about a month, she had her in her trunk with duct tape on her head and throws her body somewhere less than a mile from her house and goes out and parties. Her entire defense was basically "it's my parents' fault...I was molested by my father...they didn't prove that my client was guilty so she must be innocent." I think the jury was scared away from convicting her by the fact that the prosecution asked for the death penalty and then wasn't able to prove 100% what happened since there was no exact cause of death.

How fucked up is it that Barry Bonds could potentially spend more time in jail than she did?

Some CNN talking head lawyer wrote the day of the verdict that in his "humble" opinion, the prosecutor over-charged the case. With very little or nor evidence that was not circumstantial. With the death penalty attached, the jury could not convict beyond a reasonable doubt. So the woman walks, pending the other charges. Pathetic examples of human beings, the whole family. Must be Padre fans. :L
