  • The Rangers and Yankees (and, now, also the Mariners), notably, have a whole lot of IFA bonus pool space free if Martinez becomes available before this period ends on June 15:

Top Cuban OF prospect Julio Pablo Martinez had an impressive workout in front of scouts this morning at the @Dodgers complex in Guerra, DR. He ran the 60 in 6.3 seconds and home-to-first at 3.75 seconds. Rangers and Yankees among those in attendance.@MLBPipeline

Yeah, but who cares how ohtani handles a bat. We need to know how well he handles a fire hose.

I've been out of the loop for a few days, did Jerry just cost himself a job?

I wouldn't expect that anytime soon. Ownership wants it to desperately work so it will probably be similar to Bavasi and Jack Z where he is held onto for about 2 years too long.

In any other city other than Seattle. I see an extension coming this week.

I knew Ichiro factor would play in. Why didn't Diphead not know this?

What in the fking hell? Pressure to live up to the expectations would be too much on the kid? Lol

Well we moves don't make sense in a sense. Sure they got a 1B and a dude who on paper could be a serviceable CF. There is a huge but in there, they need pitching help and Jerry has noone left to trade. He's an addict and has no more supply to get his next fix.

For once in my life I can actually say I can respect what the Yankees are doing. They blew up the team, had a few years of bad baseball in the process, and now have a young competitive team about to add what could be a missing/final piece to their championship puzzle. We could have done the same process three times in the span of the 16 years that we’ve missed on the playoffs. Instead, we continue with this patch work baseball.

I hate to say it because the Yankees are everyone's favorite team to hate, but they've got some really amazing pieces and are going to be a really fun team to watch next year. Aaron Judge and Stanton in the same lineup? That's fucking crazy.

They should use every dime. They gotta replenish what they lost. Its disappointing that we lost some solid prospects through this whole mess, I am hoping they can make up some of that loss.

I think it's fairly unlikely. Really looks like slim pickings.

Best case scenario is that whatever we get ends up being a lot better than initially expected.

Just a little playoff history (modern day with wild cards);

Wildcard started in 2012 and in the 6 seasons since using it we have had only 2 wildcards make the WS. and both did it the same year (2014). So of the 24 wildcard teams, 2 have made the WS and 1 has won it. My point is that we should not be chasing a wildcard spot, but a divisional championship spot which we were 23 GB. My point is (and no secret) Dip needs to get his ass in gear and sign 2 legit SP's and 2 legit RP's to have a hope of catching the Astros. Not impossible, but these little pieces won't do it.

Anyone have any good estimates on how much money the Mariners (realistically) have to spend on free agents? We did add $10m in payroll with Dee Gordon. I think prior to the season people estimated that the Mariners would have around $20m to spend.

Time for Dip to start dealing. I am all for trading Seager and Rzep to Cards for Weaver, Reyes (had TJ surgery in Feb so could be had and would be good future piece), and Grichuck.

Then sign Eduardo Nunez for 3B . Add Lynn or Darvish (I like Cobb but it sounds like he is set on Cubs) with the money saved.

Trade Paxton, Moore, and Vogelbach to Rays for Archer (they don't want to pay him), Colome.

25 Man

C - Zunino
1B- Healy
2B- Cano
3B- Nunez
SS- Segura
LF- Gamel
CF- Gordon
RF- Haniger
DH- Cruz

C- Marjama
IF- Romine
OF-Grichuck
OF-Heredia

SP- Archer
SP- Lynn
SP- Leake
SP- Felix
SP- Weaver

RP- Zych
RP- Gonzales (L)
RP- Ramirez
RP- Phelps
RP- Pazos (L)
RP- Colome
RP- Diaz

Trade for youth: Vincent, Motter, Miranda.

Lineup:

1- Gordon
2- Sugera
3- Cano
4- Cruz
5- Nunez
6- Haniger
7- Healy
8- Zunino
9- Gamel
