XX posted this earlier.........I hope Ogando can cut down on the BS and go deeper into ballgames this season.
And I don't have a clue what he means by this?

Pretty simple actually... less walks. Less full counts. Lower the pitch count and go. longer. than. 5. innings.
He averaged 16.4 pitches per inning last season. If qualified, that would have been the 13th highest in the AL.

18 games he started last season. He pitched 6.0 innings or MORE 7 times. So roughly 40% of the games he started... he didnt kill the bullpen. 40%.

The first half of his first season as a starter he was phenomenal. He needs to get back to that.

No report on Harrison? I'm starting to think God has placed a curse on the Rangers. They just can't get all of their pitchers healthy at once!

He was supposed to have an MRI then fly back today.... probably know more tomorrow or Saturday.

I think if Harry goes on the shelf for a while then the odds of Ross making the rotation go up more than most as having another lefty in the rotation could be important. I really have a feeling he will at least start out the season in the rotation.

I honestly don't see Ross in the rotation.

I'm thinking the same. There seems a considered effort to get Ross stretched out and give him the opportunity from their off season plans. I also think they want the lefty to win a job more than before with the Harrison news and Holland missing 1/2 season

Does Ross even have three pitches?

pretty sure he does. I won't tell you he's a sure thing but he was drafted with the intensions of being a starter

Most pitchers are. Many end up relievers.

This might be the year that Kirkman puts it all together

Don't count this guy out. Kirkman has largely been miscast as a reliever imo. Some guys just don't pitch well in relief. He's got all the talent. It would be great if he could put it together this year. We sure could use it.

If Ross can't get lefties out he's going to have trouble finding himself in the rotation.

I don't think anyone, including myself, would be surprised if he didn't but I can just see him winning a spot for some reason. I'll stick with it until proven otherwise, I like the kid and think he might actually be able to do what that d-bag CJ did for us not too long ago.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. I hope he surprises us all. He's been really good out the pen for us and has shown he can pitch out of jams- I think he at least has a shot and he is a competitor.

If Ross can't get lefties out he's going to have trouble finding himself in the rotation.

He could at one time, might be one of those weird fluky quirks, and the results of changing his approach after switching from starting to relieving, can't say for sure

Funny how we said he had a bad year, but most of his peripherals were better than his first year, Ks were up BBs down, BABIP was .326 (.438 vs LHH!) vs .274 probably had something to do with his "regression"

FIP & xFIP were better as well
