No More "Bullpen Failure"
Thank you, Jordan Montgomery for all you gave us.
I glad he didn’t go to the Astros.I think Montgomery going to the Diamondbacks is the best option if he was not coming back here. I doubt they make it back to the WS in the next couple of years.
I was worried about that.I glad he didn’t go to the Astros.
Yeah, there are only so many big fish you can go after. They had to have bullpen help.Kirby (4.5) + Lorenzen (4.5) + Robertson (10) + Mahle (5.5) = 24.5 million in payroll for 2024
Monty = 25 mill in payroll for 2024
CY essentially went for quantity and more pitching depth instead of the one quality big fish in Monty, given the payroll constraints. The value of Lorenzen's absolute bargain of a contract really helps me lean towards that direction as well, especially knowing that Degrom and Scherzer's returns will help bolster the top of the rotation by playoff time
If Jacob deGrom is back and pitching like his top self then to me the Rangers replace the Astros in going to the World Series.Jim Bowden makes 24 predictions for the 2024 season. A few of them are about the Rangers directly or indirectly.
1. Rookie Wyatt Langford goes 3-for-5 with a home run, double and three RBIs in his major-league debut for the Rangers, while Jackson Chourio goes 2-for-4 with a stolen base in his debut for the Brewers.
14. Jacob deGrom is activated on Aug. 19 and goes 5-1 with a 1.91 ERA the rest of the way and starts the Rangers’ first postseason game.
16. The American League division winners will be the Orioles, Twins and Astros. The three wild-card berths will go to the Rangers, Mariners and Rays. The Yankees, Blue Jays, and Tigers all post winning records but miss out on the playoffs.
17. The Braves and Astros will meet in the World Series with the Braves winning their second world championship in four years.
23. Wyatt Langford wins the AL Rookie of the Year Award, edging out his Rangers teammate Evan Carter and the Orioles’ Jackson Holliday.
I agree. If Jacob deGrom is back and pitching like his top self then to me the Rangers replace the Astros in going to the World Series.
