The Nats beat the Phils earlier in the 1st game of their DHer, which eliminated them from the WC hunt.

If the Mets lose this game, and the Brewers win their game with Cincy....we'll also be eliminated.

Fish are tacking on against Thor.
They already have 10 hits.
It's now 4-0, mid 5th.

Geeez..nothing like giving up and just going thru the motions with the possibility of elimination looming.

Way to rally the troops, Mickey.
:rolleyes2:

Seth Lugo tosses a 1-2-3 inning.
4-2...mid 8th.

The Brewers beat Cincy....so the Mets elim# is now down to 1.
Win this game, it stays at 1.
If they lose, they'll be officially eliminated.

I'm sure they're watching the scoreboard and already know the shituation.

LGM!

Mets go quietly 1-2-3 in the 8th.

They are now only 3 outs away from WC elimination.

Only thing to play for now is getting to a winning record.
1 more win this week would accomplish that and give them 82 on the season.

Also would love to see Pete tie or break the MLB rookie season HR record. He's 2 away from tying Aaron Judge at 52.

Marlins vs. Mets - Game Preview - September 25, 2019 - ESPN

What they're up against, and what needs to be done.

To reach the playoffs, the New York Mets have to win Wednesday. Then win again Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And they'll need the Milwaukee Brewers to lose Wednesday. Then lose again Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

And even if all that happens, all the Mets would get out of it is a one-game playoff on Monday to determine the second National League wild-card team.

Amed Rosario's GR rbi double makes it 8-0 Mets in the 3rd.
Brandon Nimmo's 2 out rbi double makes it 9-0...heading to the 4th.

edit:
Unfortunately for us...the Reds are laying down like dogs.
Brewers are ahead 8-2 in the 6th in Cincy.

Although we're comfortably ahead 9-0 at the 7th inning stretch...we're also about 2 innings away from being eliminated from the WC race, because....
.....Milwaukee is also leading their game 9-2 in Cincy in the 8th.
