The Nationals are the 1st WC team....they're 4.5 games up on Chicago.
We need to take at least 2 of these 3 games. No nonsense. No excuses.

Trainer's Room:
Mets: Nimmo (neck) made his first start since May 19 after spending more than three months on the injured list, but is not expected to immediately resume everyday duties. "We're not exactly sure how much stress all the guys can take at this point," manager Mickey Callaway said. "To bring Nimmo back and start him every day of the week would be pretty tough." Nimmo was 1 for 3 with two walks Monday.

Mets RHP Jacob DeGrom (8-8, 2.66 ERA), who is 1-0 with a 0.53 ERA in three starts against Washington this season, faces Nationals RHP Max Scherzer (9-5, 2.46) on Tuesday. Scherzer has a 3.24 ERA in 8 1/3 innings over two starts since returning from the injured list last month.

Jacob deGrom is 8-4 with a 2.33 ERA in 18 career starts against the Nationals. Max Scherzer is 10-5 with a 2.47 ERA in 20 games (19 starts) against the Mets, whom he no-hit on Oct. 3, 2015.

The Mets won both deGrom-Scherzer matchups this season -- on Opening Day in Washington on March 28 and in New York on May 22.

Guillorme drew a 1 out walk. Callaway should've called for deGrom to bunt him over....but he instead flied out on the 1st pitch. Then with McNeil at the plate, Guillorme fell asleep and got picked off 1st.

That can't happen.
