Yeah that's unfortunate. I like Dom and I get that he's frustrated from the lack of regular playing time...which is why he hasn't been hitting like he should be. Tough situation for him. Maybe they should send him down to AAA Syracuse to get his stroke back.....but I feel like they might just grant him his wish to be traded. Not sure what we'll get in return.

Trainer's Room....
The Mets said during the game that RHP Max Scherzer had been diagnosed with a strained oblique muscle in his left side after leaving Wednesday night's win following a pitch. Scherzer is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks, another blow to a team that leads the NL East despite missing deGrom, No. 5 starter Tylor Megill and catcher James McCann to injuries, along with relievers Sean Reid-Foley and Trevor May.

"It's a great opportunity for guys that we're talking about bringing in here," manager Buck Showalter said. "Got some guys that will meet us in Denver and try to hold fort.."

The Mets will have RHP Carlos Carrasco (3-1, 3.73) start the Friday opener of a 3 game series in Colorado.
RHP Germán Márquez (1-3, 6.16) will be the Rockies starter.

He hasn't been good in several years but if he can give us some innings or transition to the bullpen why not?


Also my mindset for now is play .500 ball until the all star break. 2 months away, let's see where deGrom and Max are at that point. We're 12 games over right now, let's see if we can maintain that.

Gotta keep the pedal to the metal. Maybe even play a little better than .500 ball until the AS break.
40 games in now....a 4th of the way through the season. Need to hold the fort for about another 25-30 games.
But that's gonna require the rest of the roster staying healthy.

Until Megill returns (hopefully by next week) right now it's Cookie, Walker, Bassitt, Peterson & Williams.
Not exactly the light's out rotation....but still not too shabby all things considered.
Time for them to dig deep and bring their best stuff with them to the mound.

It'll be a challenge that's for sure...but I believe they're up for the task.
Also, maybe Cohen will spend a bit more & Eppler will work out a deal to get another arm or 2.
Plus we do have a few assets down on the farm as well.
