The rumor was started by Patriots Wire. Patriots Wire, is written by the same people who write Bills Wire, Dolphins Wire, and on and on for 32 teams.
Their stock in trade is "what if" it is manufactured news - you might call it "fake news" It certainly is fake!

A lot of this speculation is just media types expressing what they feel team needs are and might fit the bill. Aren't we in the tampering window? If so and the Pats are inquiring about players isnt that tampering? I suspect the Pats will do their due diligence about any player of interest but two first round picks for Debo is fucking insane

I just posted the 49ers will take a 28 million dollar hit if they trade Deebo before June 1st. He isn’t getting traded during or before the draft. Plain and simple.

Teams can talk to other teams about a player. Since this is only a rumor, we can't say that anybody talked to a player.

Reporters are trying to turn "due diligence" into a writable rumor.....

The majority of rumors are based on some semblance of truth.

Just because the Pats do not sign a player that is mentioned in a rumor does not mean they didn't do any research.

If the Pats are not talking with agents, head coaches and general managers about trading their own players or acquiring other players they will never improve.
If agents, head coaches and GM's are not talking to other teams they will never get the best bang for their client or team.
