Mac trade rumors are heating up.

Per 98.5 FM The Sports Hub 2/22/2023

Quote an unnamed NFL GM. "The offensive screw up in New England has put Bill Belichick completely behind the eight ball in regards to whether or not the Patriots will pick up his fifth year option. Every team knoiws at the end of the second year whether or not they will do it. The option must be picked up at the end of the third year. If Bill doesn't see a huge improvement by Jones this year, will he risk a $35M paycheck for a fifth year? Mac may be on his way out of New England."

Is Bill giving consideration to JG or possibly handing the reins to Zappe to see if he can do it for 17 games and not just two?

Colts? Raiders?

Would you trade him straight up for Kyler Murray??

I am no fan of Mac Jones at all but I'll take him over Jimmy G.

I personally like Bailey Zappe more than Mac but I honestly don't know who's actually better. I just felt that Zappe appeared more confident in the offense and more able to make something happen.

Hell no on Kyler Murray. Like no way in hell. I don't want him and neither does Bill. Either Bill.

I think Mac Jones is the Pats starter for the 2023 season.

I honestly think it's 50/50.

As much as I hate the idea, I believe thatn Bill would do it if he could get Garappollo for three years for around $15M per. At the end of this year he has to either pick up Mac's fifth year or let him go after next. That fifth year will cost the Franchise salary for that year which will be at least $35M because it's $33M this year.

The truth is that Mac won 10 games in 2021 and 8 in 2022. He threw for 1000 yards less and less TDs. I know that he didn't have good coaching but, he did not play well. He made little effort to excel on his own and that was in large part to immaturity rarely seen in a second year QB.

Most of us would much rather have seen Zappe get a better chance after winning two games and seeing an offense that had a huge increase in attitude and performance that disappeared as soon as Bill put Mac back on the field. Again, there was none of the enthusiasm with Mac. It was as if the offense was saying, "Oh Shit".

So yes, I think BB may have seen enough to give serious thought about a trade and if the deal is right, pull the trigger. Draft a QB like Hendon Hooker in the 2nd Round or Stetson Bennett in the fourth if Hooker isn't there.

I was fairly vocal in my dislike of Macs Play this year, but more and more I blame Patricia and Judge. Especially when Bourne is on record that when he pointed out flaws Patricia's response was we'll deal with that when we see it.
I think Mac will bounce back strong this year and have a GOOD year. and if Bill hasn't gone cray cray, he will sign his 5th year or just try to extend him.

But, I also believe if Bill could get a high pick or two for him and sign Jimmy G, he would.

I have said this before this is a crucial year for Mac. HIs rookie year under skippy he looked really really good even without a true #1. Last year under Bevis and Butthead he suffered, and teammates continued to support him, they knew he was not the problem, This year under BOB and hopefully with a true #1 I hope to see him shine

Mac worked with BOB in Alabama. If anyone can help Mac, it should be him. Maybe, Mac will be in a more comfortable zone and OB will be able to help the WRs be where they're supposed to be running routes.

The three preseason games will give us a true indication of where this team might be headed and how much of a difference new coaching will be. Especially having an OL coach who actually knows and understands what the OL means to the offense. I expect Rhamande Stevenson to have an absolute monster year behind an improved OL.

Mac and BOB only have a few months together, BOB was hired by Saban in January of 2021, the same year Mac entered the draft.

Higgins in a heart beat. He would be a #1 on most teams. But he has J. Chase as a teammate. Hard to surpass him. Look at his stats while Chase was out this year. Fantastic!

Yeah I would do Higgins for 14 because he is a proven commodity, Still pretty young, healthy I would have zero issues with Higgins and 14. The contract would have to be worked out but those things usually get hammered out.

Well, this is a rumors thread and I read a few days ago that it would likely cost a 1st and a 4th as well as 25 million per year to get him. The franchise tag right now for WR's is close to 25 million.

I personally don't see BB going anywhere even remotely close to that.

I do not see him getting 25 mil IMO. But sooner or later these players are going to price themselves out the market
