Yeah, didn't make a lot of sense to me either. They had Mayfield and Darnold and were theoretically trying to see if either of them could be their QB of the future and then they trade the one guy who could actually help.

The gave up an aging and injury prone, highflying paid RB (also very good player) for a haul of picks.

Purdy probably only needs about 16-17 points to win that game. Bucs offense is subpar. It’s not about Purdy. It’s about the rest of the pieces.

You hold a team to 3 points in 3.5 quarters, defense can’t be the reason your team lost.

It can when you give up a 98 yard drive with less than 2 minutes left and they commit 2 stupid penalties along the way. One of them for unsportsmanlike conduct for slapping the ball out of Mayfields hand long after the play was over. That's 100% on the defense.

CMAC was 1 injury away from having 0 trade value.

I think they correctly diagnosed their team sucked with or without him, and they got what they could.

As for Baker/Darnold, they saw Darnold last year and had already seen enough from Baker to know he wasn’t their answer.

Safe to say the next franchise QB for Carolina was not on the roster this season.

The offense had gotten them a 16-3 lead and had done enough that all the defense had to do was not allow a team to go 98 yards in under 2 minutes.
