You can only rebuild one side of the ball in one off-season. It's why I didn't pick them to win the PAC before the season. If they land some of the defensive recruits that they are in on and pull a couple from the portal, they should be fine. They have a lot of speed on the defense, but they are really undersized. Their best linebacker only weighs 200 lbs. lol
The NIL will help no doubt, but defense got worse every year he was at OU, as did the offense after he became head coach.

It would be crazy if we got CFP matchups of Georgia-Bama and Michigan-Ohio St. I’m sure most would hate it though
They would fudge it and come up with some stupid reason to put Michigan on the one line to avoid the first round rematches.

You see them more than I do but go back to this thread last night. There are about half a dozen things I called out that are just fundamentally unsound and the poor tackling is a direct result of coaching from my perspective.

Some of it was. There were several times where guys were more interested in trying to strip the ball than they were in getting the guy to the ground. Utah got touchdowns out of at least 2 of those and 1st downs to keep drives going on 2 or 3 others.

Also, a lot of those missed tackles were later in the game and a result of players being tired. That happens when a defense lacks size and depth. With Williams hurt, USC's offense couldn't stay on the field long enough to get the defense some rest.

Because of those deficiencies, USC has to essentially pick their poison defensively. The game against your Domers was a perfect example of that. They won because they sold out against the run, held ND to 90 yards rushing and Caleb Williams is a better QB than Drew Pyne. It also helped that ND has only 1 huge tight end...Utah has 2 or 3.

Speaking of TE that is something else for you to watch for. Riley is famous for having stud TEs and then forgetting they exist. Just FYI.

lol

They were 56-10 with Lincoln Riley and the only season they didn't win at least 11 games was 2020 when seasons were shortened because of Covid. You may want to consider that there may be a ceiling at Oklahoma as far as the recruits they can get and they reached it. Also, the ceiling at USC may be higher.

It's not like OU was racking up a bunch of NC's under Stoops.

I wouldn't care. Teams that were considered to be in the cfp mix earlier in the season like Oregon, Utah, OU, UT ended up not being as good as many thought and teams that had played their way into the conversation like USC, Tennessee and LSU lost the games that could have kept them in...or in USC's case, would have cemented their spot.

So, if TCU loses and tOSU and Bama manage to sneak back in...those other teams only have themselves to blame.

The numbers speak for themselves after he took over

We'll see. I haven't seen a stud tight end at USC since the Pete Carroll era.
