The Aussie obviously had no control today. His pitch count was 27 with only 13 strikes. His first 6 or 7 pitches were outta the strike zone. Regardless, man was that comeback good to see or what?

They went from being 2 back to 3 back on one swing. Thanks Tor!

SO GLAD the A's lost, but now I have to listen to Harold Reynolds talk about how great scherzer is, based on this W-L record primarily. Listen, Scherzer is very good, but I just get so sick if hearing about his greatness and using W-L as primary supporting info. Today is a great example, of why that stat should NOT be even a tie breaker with regards to pitcher comparisons. Just my opinion at least, I know other here will disagree.

Baseball is such a psychological sport. By Detroit beating the A's on a walk off in the 4th game of this series makes the other three games a lesser impact mentally for the A's. It throws into doubt now the "sure thing" of Balfour coming in to shut the door. Now let's see how the A's batters do against TB. That will be the test to see if this is an aberration or an emerging trend.

Now, com'on Rangers, take advantage of this. Balfour's ERA went from about 1.67 (?) to 2.44. This was his second blown save, and he's now lost 3 with 0 wins too.

Regardless, GO RANGERS. I think we've just received a gift.

It makes me appreciate our sweep of Seattle a lot more because we actually got something out of it instead of losing ground.

Yeah by sweeping the Mariners we had little satisfaction because all we did was maintain. However, by the Tigers taking the game today, we gained 1/2 game and did not have to do anything for it:)

Now would like to see the Rangers sweep the Twins and the A's to lose at least one to TB. That will make us 4 games up before the head to head.

Excellent point of view.

This was his 2nd blown save of the year, but the timing really sucks if you're a A's fan. Balfour threw 27 pitches - most of em poorly - so he's unavailable tomorrow for sure.
