Bringing those two back should be priority #1, IMO. But especially retaining Yates.
If he's healthy, he can absolutely put together another dominant season as closer.

according to the Rangers official site we are carrying 20 pitchers, 2 catchers, 8 infielders and 6 outfielders on the 40-man roster as of this time. Robertson is not on it

Nine of those guys are relief pitchers. They can't get by with getting rid of all 9 of them, but letting 4 or 5 go should be a possibility.

They would most likely not let Ornelas go unless they are planning on adding Acosta to the 40-man.

it appears, from what the media has reported, that trades will be a part of this offseason. If they make a couple of trades we could free up a roster spot or two in that manner.

They could waive 5 guys, and free up a net of 2 spots via trades for a total of 7 additional 40-man spots. That moves the roster frim 36 to 29.

Between bench guys, a starting pitcher, and 3 relievers, they could add 5 players, bringing the roster up to 34. That gives them 6 spots to add guys to the 40-man prior to Rule 5.

A few weeks ago, I didn't see them adding Stephan, but I think his AFL success has assured his protection on the 40 man. That probably means either Acker or Garcia won't be protected, but I would like to see them find a way to do so.

They don't think highly enough of Blaine Crim to protect him, unfortunately. He will most likely be left off and will be selected by another team.

Acosta would have to replace Ornelas to get protected, I would think.

Ortiz probably gets left off this time, but that one is a toss up.

Alejandro Osuna was 2 for 5 with a double and a walk, yesterday. There are 3 games left for the AFL.

Osuna is hitting .366 with a 1.074 OPS.

Congratulations to Rangers prospects RHP Josh Stephan and RHP Leandro Lopez after being selected as Arizona Fall League Co-Pitchers of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

Stephan (4.0 SHO IP, 5 SO) and Lopez (3.0 SHO IP, 1 BB, 7 SO) combined for 7.0 no-hit innings on Friday at Peoria.

Stephan, 23, leads the Arizona Fall League in ERA (0.54), innings (16.2), and WHIP (0.66), while also ranking highly in opp. batting average (2nd, .136) and strikeouts (T3rd, 17) over 5 games/2 starts. He is currently tabbed as the Rangers’ 25th-best prospect (MLB Pipeline).

The 22-year-old Lopez has gone 2-0 with a 4.73 ERA (7 ER/13.1 IP) and 17 strikeouts in 5 games/3 starts for Surprise this fall. His 7 strikeouts on Friday are tied for the highest single-game total by an AFL pitcher on the season.
